Dilip Joshi, who became famous from the role of Jethalal in ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’, was unemployed for about one and a half years before the show. Even after doing films like ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, Shah Rukh Khan with Salman Khan, Dileep was not getting work according to his mind even after doing films like ‘One 2 Ka 4’ and ‘Sill Dil Hai Hindustani’.
Before making a career in acting, Dilip used to run a travel agency in partnership, but after 5 years, he started getting bored with this work. Since he used to do theater since childhood. Didn’t think of working in film or TV
Dilip Joshi’s life changed after getting the role of Jethalal in ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’. However, he did not think of becoming an actor in film or TV in childhood. Since childhood, his inclination was definitely towards the theater.
So he joined the theater. Where only 450 rupees used to work in a play, but it was not possible to live only with so much money. So Dileep opened a travel agency in partnership to live livelihood. There he used to work from 9 am to 9 pm, but gradually his mind was bored with this work.
Engagement and marriage at a young age
Dilip Joshi was married at a very young age. During an interview, the actor told about his marriage. Dilip had said- Balika Vadhu Type is the story of our wedding. I was 18 years old and my wife Jayamala was 14 years old, when we got engaged. When my wife is 18 years old, I got married. At that time I was 22.
Dare to make a career in acting from wife
Referring to the travel agency, Dilip Joshi says- After running the travel agency for 5 years, I decided that I have not been made for this work, but could not muster the courage to leave it. The second did not work and the acting line was very insufficure. If the wife had not dared to make a career in acting, it would not have been successful as an actor today.

Dileep says- There was a lot of dilemma in the mind about acting. Many types of questions were going on in the mind. One day I told my wife that I want to act, but that line is very inscribed, can also get work or not.
Debut from Rajshree Production’s film
Dilip Joshi made her Bollywood debut with Rajshree Production’s film ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’. In this film, he played a small role of Salman Khan’s servant ‘Ramu’. He did not get any special recognition from this film.
After this, he got a chance to work with Salman Khan for the second time in Rajshri Production’s film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun Hain’. Dileep played Bhola in this film. This character was well liked. Still Dilip Joshi was unemployed for a long time.
Felt that life is set now
During an interview, Dilip Joshi said- My daughter was born in 1992. At that time there were 25 thousand rupees in my bank account. Out of that, about 13 thousand rupees were spent in the hospital. Then I had only some plays, but I used to get around 450 rupees per drama. I found ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ and then I felt that life was set. The film came and became super hit, but even after that no work was found.
Nobody’s phone was coming for work
After ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, Dileep worked in some films like ‘One to Ka Four’, ‘Hamraj’, ‘Sill Dil Hai Hindustani’. He says- At the same time I was doing a show, he suddenly stopped.
After that there was a time in life that no call was coming for work. I thought there are two children, family. The expenses are increasing and children’s school fees have to be paid, what should I do now? That was a very difficult time.
I could not understand which new line to go to this age now, because I did not know anything other than acting.
Was very upset due to money constraints
Despite working in many big films, Dilip Joshi’s life was full of difficulties. They were not getting any special identity nor much work. Due to the crisis of money, he was very upset and used to make rounds of directors-producers’ offices to ask for work.
24 -year -old acting experience did not work
Dilip Joshi says- I needed a lot of work at that time, I was sitting empty for one and a half years. Even after 24 years of experience in the acting field, I had no work.
Tarak came in the form of blessings of God ..
I did not want to do such a thing, which I could not see by sitting with my family. So I turned down the offer of comedy circus. Only one month later, I received the offer of ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’. Accepted it as a blessing of God.
‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ began on 28 July 2008. Dilip Joshi got a lot of success in the role of Jetha Lal in this show. The show is popular among the audience for 17 years.
Threatened to leave the show
The show is now criticized with the popularity of ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’. One after the other artists left the show. There was talk of Dilip Joshi leaving the show. Dileep threatened producer Asit Modi to leave the show.

According to the report of News18, the fight between Dilip Joshi and Asit Modi took place in August last year. According to reports, Dilip Joshi had gone to Asit Modi to ask for a holiday, but Asit Modi was avoiding talking to him.
Dilip Joshi agreed to this and the quarrel started. The hot debate between the two began so much that Dileep grabbed Asit Modi’s collar and threatened them to leave the show.

In an interview to actress Jennifer Mistry, actress Jennifer Mistry told the quarrel between Dilip Joshi and the show’s operational head Sohail Rahmani. According to the actress, Sohail Rahmani and Dilip Joshi had a fight over something.
Angry Sohail threw a chair towards Dilip Joshi. Then the actor had said on this Missbehivier that if Sohail is associated with the project of ‘Tarak Mehta …’, he would leave the show.
The actress further stated that Sohail was kept away from Dilip Joshi and this happened for two years. However, by issuing a statement, Dilip Joshi called all these reports false. He had said that he feels sad to hear such false news.
