Pooja Khedkar, a trainee IAS officer from Maharashtra, is in the news. Pooja has claimed in an affidavit given to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) that she is mentally challenged and also has difficulty in seeing.
According to NDTV report, Pooja refused to take medical test 6 times. It is necessary to take medical test. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Pooja’s first medical test was scheduled in Delhi AIIMS in April 2022. She refused to attend it citing being Covid positive.
However, it is not clear why and how Pooja was selected when she had refused to appear in the exam? Pooja is a 2023 IAS officer and hails from Ahmednagar.
Pooja did not even appear for the MRI test
According to the report, Pooja had refused to attend the test schedule held in July and August. She had attended only half of the test scheduled in September. Not only this, Pooja did not even attend the MRI test. This test checks whether you can see or not.
At the same time, Pooja had described herself as belonging to the backward class (OBC). Questions are being raised on this too.

Pooja’s connection with controversies
Pooja Khedkar had secured 841st rank in the civil service exam. She had installed a siren in her private car (Audi), due to which she was transferred from Pune to Washim. Not only this, Pune Collector Suhas Divase had written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra and requested to reinstate Pooja Khedkar.
According to the order, the 2023 batch IAS officer will complete her remaining probation period as Assistant Collector in Washim.
Apart from installing a siren in her private car, Pooja had also installed a VIP number plate. She had also put a sticker of Government of Maharashtra. There were reports that Pooja was using the office of Pune’s Additional Collector Ajay More. It was reported that Pooja had removed More’s nameplate and furniture from his office and had demanded letterheads.
According to the rules, junior or probationary (24 months) officers do not get these facilities.
