President Lula made this statement during an event in the capital Brasilia.
Brazilian President Lula de Silva has refused to talk to President Donald Trump amid stress over 50% tariff from the US.
Trump has said that Lula can talk to me whenever he wants. Lula has turned down the proposal. Lula said that he would not call Trump to talk on tariff.
He said that he will resort to the Brazilian World Trade Organization (WTO) to resolve the issue. During an event in the capital Brasilia, Lula said,

I will not call Trump, because he does not want to talk. But I will call Xi Jinping, I will call Prime Minister Modi. I will not do Putin because he cannot travel right now. But I will talk to many presidents.

Lula also said that even though there is no talk with Trump, he will definitely invite Trump to the COP30 Climate Conference to be held in November.
Trump imposed 50% tariff on Brazil
The US has recently imposed a 50% tariff on Brazil. According to the Trump administration, this tariff has been imposed due to the action being taken against former President Zaier Bolsonaro.
Trump has described the action against Bolsonaro as a replacement.
Bolsonaro is accused of plotting the coup after losing 2022 elections. Due to this, the relationship between Washington and Rio de Janeiro has worsened.
Bolsonaro is allegedly accused of allegedly trying to try for riots in Brasilia, the Brazilian capital, on 8 January 2023.

Former President Bolsonaro is considered close to America.
Trump’s demand- Bolsonaro’s trial ends
Trump said in a statement last month that free election was being attacked in Brazil and the freedom of expression of American people is being controlled. Due to this, 50% tariffs will be imposed on all products coming from Brazil to America from 1 August 2025.
Posting on social media, Trump wrote, former Brazilian President Bolsonaro is a respected leader. The behaving with him is as embarrassing internationally. This lawsuit should end immediately.
He also referred to Bolsonaro from participating in the next election on behalf of the Supreme Court of Brazil and also mentioned the censorship orders on Trump’s social media platform Truth Social and Rumble.
