US President Donald Trump celebrated Diwali at the White House on Tuesday. He extended his best wishes to Indians living all over the world including India. On this occasion, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described him as a great person and a great friend.

Many Indian-American businessmen also participated in the program. The Indian community has played an important role in the relations between India and America.

Earlier, US MPs Raja Krishnamurthy and Brian Fitzpatrick introduced a bipartisan resolution in the US House of Representatives.

In this, the religious and historical importance of Diwali was recognised. The resolution lauded the cultural and spiritual contributions of more than three million Indian-Americans, including the Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities.
