Trump celebrated Diwali by lighting lamps at the White House on Tuesday.
US President Donald Trump celebrated Diwali at the White House on Tuesday. He extended his best wishes to Indians living all over the world including India. On this occasion, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described him as a great person and a great friend.
Trump said in the program,
In a short while we will light the lamp, which symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. It reminds us that we should always take the path of knowledge, work hard.
Many senior officials of the US administration were present in this ceremony. These included FBI Director Kash Patel, Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore and India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

Trump said- I spoke to PM Modi
Trump said that he spoke to PM Modi on Tuesday. While wishing the people of India a happy Diwali, he said,
Today I had a conversation with Prime Minister Modi. We discussed trade and regional peace. It is very good that there is no war between India and Pakistan.
He further said that Modi is a great person and has become my good friend over the years.
Indian origin businessmen were also involved
Many Indian-American businessmen also participated in the program. The Indian community has played an important role in the relations between India and America.
Earlier, US MPs Raja Krishnamurthy and Brian Fitzpatrick introduced a bipartisan resolution in the US House of Representatives.
In this, the religious and historical importance of Diwali was recognised. The resolution lauded the cultural and spiritual contributions of more than three million Indian-Americans, including the Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities.
