Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has once again targeted former US President Donald Trump in his tricky style. Shashi Tharoor took a dig at the way of dealing with former US President Donald Trump and said that only Melania Trump can tell this method.

In a special interview with India Today Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai, when Tharoor was asked how to deal with a leader like Trump, he jokingly said, “I don’t think someone has seen such a political leader. You have to ask the Melania Trump how he deal with Donald”.

Tharoor compared Trump to “school domineering” and said that America has wrongly targeted India. He emphasized that India’s self -esteem “is not for bargaining.”

India’s self-esteem not for bargaining- Tharoor

On 25 August, Tharoor insisted on restraint and rational conversation over a conversation with the US talks team in Delhi. He said that India will have to decide its “red lines” (boundaries), especially for the agricultural sector.

He said, “It is not right for Mr. Trump to talk to India like this. Whatever be in the Government of India, our self -esteem is not for bargaining.” He further said that we have to convince America why we have some limits. 70 crore people in our country depend on agriculture. We cannot ruin our market by filling our market with concessional American grains.

American is adopting double standards

Tharoor also said that even after negotiations, India remains in a few countries that are imposed 50% tariff, “we should make it clear that we will do the same.”

He also criticized America’s “double standards” to purchase from Russia for national interests and said that America is buying things like fertilizer and uranium from Russia.

He emphasized that India should be firm during three weeks of conversation. If inappropriate policies continue, he suggested that “we have to find other markets.”
