After reaching Ukraine on Friday, PM Modi also paid tribute to the children killed in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that if India and its people change their attitude towards Russia, then this war can end and Putin himself will take this decision. India has a big contribution in Russia’s economy.

After a bilateral meeting with PM Modi on Friday, Zelensky said, “We discussed the issue of India buying oil from Russia. Due to the war, many trade related restrictions have been imposed on Russia in the world. But in the meantime, India’s doors are open. If India stops importing oil from Russia, it will be a big challenge for Putin.”

There was a bilateral meeting between PM Modi and President Zelensky for about 3 hours.

‘Putin is getting billions of rupees of help from India and China’
Zelensky said, “Billions of rupees coming from India and China have helped Putin in the midst of the war. We have to stop giving money to Russia to make weapons.” The Ukrainian President said that Putin does not respect India’s PM Modi. That is why he attacked the Ukrainian hospital during Modi’s visit to Russia.

Regarding India’s stand on the UN resolution related to the Russia-Ukraine war, Zelensky said, “I am not happy that we did not get India’s support. We will now try to talk to them before the next proposal is presented. We want India to be on our side. India can play an important role in stopping the war.”

Jaishankar said- the decision to buy oil depends on the market
After the bilateral meeting between Modi and Zelensky, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar held a press conference in Kiev. He said, “Today it is important for the global community that there should be stability in oil prices. India is a big consumer and importer of oil.”

The foreign minister said that there is a market strategy behind buying oil. It completely depends on the market conditions. Today, big oil suppliers like Iran and Venezuela, who earlier sold oil to India, are not able to operate with as much freedom. All these reasons affect India’s oil buying policy.

On the other hand, during the meeting with Zelensky, PM Modi said that India has never been neutral regarding war. We have been in favor of peace from day one. We come from the land of Buddha, where there is no place for war. We come from the land of Mahatma Gandhi, who has given the message of peace to the whole world.

PM Modi said that India has never been neutral in war. We have been in favour of peace from the very beginning.

‘Territorial integrity is most important for India’
Modi said, “Respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is most important for India. I met Russian President Putin a few days ago. Then I looked into his eyes and told him that this is not the time for war.”

PM Modi said that India is ready to play an active role in every effort for peace. If I can personally contribute in any way, then as a friend, I would definitely like to do so.
