There was a stir in Guwahati on Friday when the police arrested two personal security officers of singer Zubin Garg in connection with the mysterious death of him. These are the same PSOs who were deployed for the security of Zubin at every step for the last decade. The names of both of them have been given as Nandeshwar Bora and Prabin Baishya. Suspicious transactions worth Rs 1.1 crore have been detected from their bank accounts.
According to a police officer, Zubin Garg After the death of the two security officers, a thorough investigation was conducted into their financial activities. After several rounds of questioning, Assam Police suspended him on Tuesday, but the matter reached a critical point on Friday. CID arrested both of them and produced them in the local court, from where they were sent to five-day custody.
Singer Zubin Garg’s wife Garima Saikia Garg has clarified that she had given some money to both her PSOs for social work. But the investigating agencies are not satisfied with this explanation. He says that both the nature and timing of the transaction are suspicious. Especially when answers to many questions are still to be found regarding Zubin’s death by drowning in Singapore.
Both the PSOs are affiliated with Assam Police. About ten years ago, Zubin was deployed under the protection of Garg after receiving death threats from ULFA. But now his role itself is under investigation. This is not the first time that someone has been arrested in connection with Zubin Garg’s death. Earlier, five people including the organizer of the North East India Festival were arrested.
These include organizer Shyamkanu Mahant, the singer’s cousin Sandipan Garg, his manager Siddharth Sharma, music composer Shekharjyoti Goswami and singer Amritprabha Mahant. Sandipan Garg was an Assam Police Service officer, who was suspended after his arrest. So far, a total of seven arrests have been made in this case, which indicates that this may not be an accidental accident but a deep mystery.
Zubin Garg died while swimming in the sea off Singapore on 19 September. He had gone there to participate in the North East India Festival. But the circumstances of death are still unclear. The Special Investigation Team formed under the CID of Assam Police is investigating Zubeen’s death keeping in mind every angle, financial transactions, personal relationships and international activities.
