After the Pahalgam terror attack, India announced to stop the Indus Water Treaty. This has caused Pakistani leaders to be shocked. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party MP Syed Ali Zafar said about this decision that it is a water bomb hanging on us. Which we have to deactivate immediately. He claimed that this move of India would harm one in 10 Pakistani.

Speaking in the Pakistani Parliament on Friday, MP Ali Zafar warned that if this water crisis is not resolved soon, hunger can spread and there may be mass deaths. Zafar said that the Indus basin is our lifeline, if we do not solve water scarcity now, then we will die of hunger.

The Pakistani MP said that three fourth part of the water coming from outside the country is based on this. 9 out of 10 people are dependent on the Indus water basin for their lives, 90% of Pakistan’s crops and all major power projects depend on this water. He said that it is like a bomb of water hanging on us and we have to neutralize it.

Crisis on Pakistan’s economy

According to the data, Pakistan uses 93% of the water received from the Indus river system in agriculture and electricity. About 80% of its irrigated land is dependent on this water and its economy is mainly agro -based.

‘Blood and water cannot flow together’

India took this step after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, in which the terrorists killed 26 people. After this attack, India made it clear that the Indus Water Treaty will be kept ‘postponed’ until Pakistan stops across the border. Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly said that blood and water cannot flow together.

India’s new front after Operation Sindoor

India feared that Pakistan would try to describe itself on the international stage. Therefore, India has sent delegation to 7 countries after Operation Sindoor, so that the world can be explained that the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty is a case related to the security and sovereignty of India.

Pakistan is begged in front of India

Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has demanded a reconsideration of India on this decision, but India has made it clear that the water treaty will not be restored until terrorist activities are curbed.
