The Meteorological Department in Jammu and Kashmir has issued a warning of heavy rain and hailstorm for March 10 and 11. According to the department, due to a new western disturbance, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the Western Himalayan region till March 15.
Warnings of extreme heat and heatwave have been issued in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Goa. The Meteorological Department has predicted the temperature to be above 40 degrees in Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
On the other hand, during the repair work at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, the asphalt layer on a part of the runway melted and became loose due to high temperature. Due to this, two passenger flights had to be diverted to Bhopal.

Why heat and heatwave in March
According to the Meteorological Department, these days hot winds are coming from the desert areas of Rajasthan. The effect of which is visible in the plain states. The wind direction has now changed from north-east to west and north-west. At the same time, there is very little humidity in the air. Due to this, the temperature will increase further in the coming days. This can also increase the intensity of sunlight.
When is it considered a heatwave?
According to the Meteorological Department, a heatwave is considered when the temperature in the plains reaches 40 degrees or more. If the temperature is recorded 4 to 6 degrees more than the normal temperature. In such a situation, people’s health can also be affected and the risk of heat stroke increases.
Weather condition for next 2 days-
- March 11- Light rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places over Kerala and Andhra Pradesh (especially coastal areas).
- March 12- Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir rain forecast, there is a possibility of light rain or lightning at some places in the Northeast.
