Among them was the skeleton of the family’s pet dog.
Laila Khan murder case, Part 2: Know how and why 6 members of the family were murdered….
On July 10, 2012, the Crime Branch took custody of Parvez Tak by presenting him in the Southern Mumbai Fort Court. If the matter was serious, the investigation team did not fail to take strict action. Parvez Tak was beaten to death by tying his hands and legs, after which skeletons were taken out from the farmhouse on his instructions.
Even before this he had narrated the entire story of the night of February 2011. Parvez was a resident of Kashmir. He was beautiful in appearance and of normal height. He contested an election in Kashmir, which cost a lot of money, but he lost the election. When the debt increased, he came to Delhi and started looking for work to survive.

Parvez Tak was already married before marrying Celina.
It was here that he met Laila’s mother Selina. Selina was beautiful to look at and her lifestyle was also quite glamorous. Both of them first became friends and then started having good conversations.
Celina had told Parvez that her daughter is a heroine. Parvez felt that if he remained in touch with Celina, he too could get work in films. When one day Parvez told Celina that he wanted to work in films. The answer received was that this work would cost Rs 25 lakh. Parvez deposited the money and gave it to him and after some time reached Mumbai.
With time, Celina and Parvez started growing closer and both got married in 2010. Parvez now started living in Celina’s house with her children.

The family adopted him. Days passed and it did not take long for Parvez to guess that Celina had falsely promised him to get work in films for money. His fights with Celina started increasing when she asked for money. The attitude of Laila and her siblings towards her also started deteriorating. Despite marriage with Parvez, Celina used to meet her first husband Nadir Patel and second husband Asif Shaikh. Apart from this, he had to meet many men.
In late 2010, Celina went to Africa with her family, leaving Parvez alone in Mumbai. After staying there for a few months, she went to Dubai. Parvez was alone in Mumbai, he did not have much money, he barely managed to survive. Selina also hid his passport, so that he could not run away.
After 3 months everyone returned to Mumbai, Parvez was still at home. After a few days, he came to know that Celina was selling all her properties in Mumbai and shifting to Dubai with her children. He had no plan to take Parvez along. She was taking the help of her second husband Asif Sheikh to sell the property.
There was nothing for Parvez in Mumbai, his 12 lakhs had already been lost and there was no question of returning to Kashmir. Then he made a plan. The plan was to take revenge for the insult and capture the property. He conspired to destroy the entire family.
In a noisy city like Mumbai, it would have been difficult to kill the entire family single-handedly, so he chose the Igatpuri farmhouse for the conspiracy. He knew that Laila’s family often went there for holidays.

Igatpuri farmhouse where skeletons of Laila and her family were found.
One day he told Celina that a watchman should be appointed in the farmhouse in Igatpuri. The vacant farmhouse will also be looked after and the goods there will also be safe. Selina flatly refused. For him this was a wasteful expenditure. He kept repeating this for several days and finally Selina agreed. Parvez took the responsibility of keeping the watchman on his shoulders. This was a golden opportunity for him. He called his friend Sakir Hussain Mani from Kashmir in the name of Watchman, who was going to help him in this conspiracy.
8 February 2011
Everyone reached the farmhouse. Laila, Laila’s mother Celina, sister Azmina (Afreen), Zara, brother Imran and cousin Reshma. The pet dog was also with him. Everyone had dinner together and then the children went to the rooms below to sleep, while Parvez and Celina stayed in the room on the first floor.
It was late at night, but there was a stir inside Parvez. He kept peeping again and again to make sure everyone was sleeping. Selina was awake at that time. Parvez immediately called his friend Sakir Mani. There was silence in the entire farmhouse, there was no one around. Then, as soon as he got the opportunity, he attacked Selina’s head with an iron rod. After the first attack, Selina screamed and fell on the floor. Parvez launched another attack. Selina’s screams reached the rooms on the ground floor, Laila was awake, she ran up the stairs. Saw mother lying on the floor soaked in blood and moaning and Parvez had a weapon in his hand. Before Laila could understand anything, Parvez attacked her one by one. As soon as the brothers and sisters reached the first floor after hearing the screams, Parvez started killing everyone one by one.
Imran was the only boy among those 5 women. But how long could he last in front of two strong men? He was also killed.
Everyone was writhing on the floor, bleeding profusely. But Parvez was still not satisfied. He picked up the rod and kept hitting everyone on their heads until their breathing stopped.
Now it was the turn to dispose of the dead bodies. He had already arranged for this with Selina a month ago. Parvez had told Celina that he wanted to build a swimming pool in the farmhouse. They refused, but he insisted and took the money. A JCB was called and a big pit was dug behind the farmhouse in January itself.
Parvez and Sakir first put the dead bodies of Imran, Zara and Reshma in the pit and then covered the blood stained mattresses. Poured some soil and placed the remaining bodies of Laila, Selina, Afreen and the dog on top of them.
The panic was so much that Parvez did not even remove the jewelery from the dead bodies. When the skeletons were found a year later, Laila’s neck chain, Selina’s bracelets and Afreen’s ring were intact.
Both of them picked up every valuable item from the farmhouse and set the entire farmhouse on fire. Sakir left in one car and Parvez came to Kashmir in the other car. Which he took and parked in a rented shop in Kishtwar. To earn his living he started working as a daily wage earner.
Court gave death sentence after 14 years
The case of murder of Laila Khan and her family in 2011 continued for 13 years. Finally, on May 24, 2024, the Mumbai Sessions Court found Parvez Tak guilty of murdering six family members and sentenced him to death and 10 years’ imprisonment on charges of destroying evidence. The court considered it the rarest of rare case. This was a one of its kind case, in which there were no eyewitnesses. Sakir Mani, who supported Parvez Tak in the murder case, was never caught.

Ejaz Khan met Parvez Tak in jail
Actor Aijaz Khan was a friend of Laila’s younger sister. In an interview given to Dainik Bhaskar, Aijaz said, ‘I did not have direct friendship with Laila, but her younger sisters Afreen and Zara were my very good friends. I used to keep visiting his house. Earlier we used to talk on the phone often, but suddenly one day his phone started switching off. I asked people here and there, but no one knew anything. I thought that maybe they might have gone again for Umrah, Mecca-Medina or Iran, that is why we are not able to contact. But when I came to know through news that Laila and her family are no more in this world, I was completely broken from inside. Laila, her sisters, brothers, none of them deserved such a death. They were very young, everyone was hardworking, smart and beautiful.
‘The first time I met Parvez Tak was at Laila’s house and the second time was at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai. I was in jail for some days. One day someone told me that someone has come to meet you. I asked who? He said, “The one who has come after committing gang murder.” I understood. Parvez Tak came limping. Both his legs had rotted due to some disease. I asked him- “Why did you do this?” So he said- “I didn’t do anything.” At the same time his wife and children also came to meet him. I pointed towards him and said, “If this happens to them, how will you feel?” He is rotting and dying in the same jail.
Laila Khan’s life was full of many scandals
While talking to us, Rakesh also talked about the controversial life of Laila Khan. He said, this is 3-4 months after the release of my film Wafa. There is a building named ‘Samarth Vaibhav’ in Oshiwara, there is a White Lama Cafe below it. Laila called me and asked me to come there. When I went there, I saw that Laila, her mother, her boyfriend (who was the son of a builder) and a friend of mine who had come from Dubai, were all sitting at a table. There was a gun kept on that table. I got scared seeing it. The friend from Dubai told me, “Look Rakesh, Laila had taken 5 crores from me. She was in a live-in relationship with me and now she is with this boy. You make Laila understand, otherwise she will be in big trouble.” After 1-2 years of this incident, Laila went missing forever.
About Laila Khan-
Laila Khan’s real name was Reshma Patel. He was born in 1978 in Mumbai. However, there is no mention of the actual date of birth.
Laila Khan’s mother’s name was Athiya Patel, although everyone called her Celina. After a long struggle, Laila Khan got work in the 2002 big budget Kannada film ‘Makeup’. The film, released on 30 November 2002, was appreciated by critics, but the film flopped badly at the box office. The makers suffered a loss of Rs 75 lakh from this film.
After this, Laila Khan was cast opposite India’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna in his comeback film ‘Wafa: A Deadly Love Story’. Laila Khan was shown as an unfaithful wife in the film. The film was directed by Rakhi Sawant’s brother Rakesh Sawant.

The film Wafa, released on 19 December 2008, could not do much at the box office and Rajesh Khanna was also heavily criticized for making a C-grade film.
