Bagmati Express hit the goods train from behind. The accident happened at around 8.30 pm.
Mysore-Darbhanga Express (12578) collided with a goods train in Tamil Nadu on Friday. According to Southern Railway, the accident occurred near Kavaraipettai railway station at 8.30 pm. There is no news of any casualty in this. Only 19 people have been injured. He has been admitted to nearby hospitals.
Medical relief van and rescue teams from Chennai Central have reached the spot. The distance of this station from Chennai is 41 km.
Southern Railway said that after crossing Ponneri station at 8.27 pm, Bagmati Express had received green signal to run on the main line. Before reaching Kavaraipettai railway station, the loco pilot and train crew got a strong shock.
After this the train left the main line and went into the loop line. Earlier a goods train was standing on this loop line. Bagmati Express collided with a goods train. 12 to 13 coaches derailed in the accident. A coach and parcel van caught fire. The speed of Bagmati Express at the time of the accident was 75 KMPH.

Route of three trains changed Indian Railways Executive Director (Information and Publicity) Dilip Kumar said, ‘Most passengers are safe. Everyone has been rescued. We have not yet received reports of any deaths or serious injuries.
Due to the accident, the routes of three trains – Tiruchirappalli-Howrah Express, Ernakulam-Tatanagar Express and Kakinada-Dhanbad Special Express have been changed. Rescue and relief work is going on.

Tamil Nadu CM said- Minister has been sent to the spot
After the incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin said that the government is rapidly engaged in relief and rescue operations. Minister Avadi Nassar and other top officials have been sent to the scene. A separate team has been formed to assist the passengers present at the spot and facilitate their onward journey.
Deputy CM said- I have personally met the injured.
