The High Court has taken a strict stance regarding the deaths due to Chinese Manjha. In the hearing held on Monday, the court said that despite the ban, the continuous occurrence of deadly incidents is unfortunate and strict action is necessary to stop it.

The court directed that if anyone dies due to Chinese Manjha, a case of culpable homicide will be registered against the person concerned under Section 106 (1) of BNS.

The High Court clarified that if any person is found selling or using Chinese Manja, then direct criminal action will be taken against him. Also, if minors are caught using Chinese Manjha, a case will be registered against their parents by holding them responsible.

Three people lost their lives in Indore The court told that in the last few months, three people have died due to Chinese Manjha in Indore. Apart from this, many people have been injured and a large number of birds have also died due to this. The court said that January 14 is Makar Sankranti and kite flying increases during this period, due to which there is a possibility of major accidents due to the use of banned Manjha.

Action plan report called for from 14 districts During the hearing, amicus curiae senior advocate Vivek Sharan and Akash Sharma suggested that in view of Makar Sankranti, report of steps taken and action plan should be called from Indore and 14 districts falling within the limits of High Court. The next hearing will be on January 16. During this time Collector Shivam Verma was also present in the court.

Government said- running awareness campaign It was told by the government that along with the ban on Chinese Manjha, a massive public awareness campaign is being run regarding its ill effects. Action is being taken to stop the sale and special equipment is also being used to prevent accidents. The High Court has already issued clear instructions on 11 December 2025 in Indore and surrounding districts.

The female lawyer said – my throat was also cut During the hearing, female advocate Kavita Uike, while sharing her experience, said that her throat was cut by a Chinese string and to save her life, she broke the string with her hands, due to which her palm got seriously injured. Expressing condolences on this, the court directed the government to take more strict action.

In Indore, three bikers’ throats were cut by a Chinese manjha in 4 hours. Raghuveer Dhakad died in the accident on Khajrana Bridge, while two youths were injured in Sapna-Sangita Road and Aerodrome area.
