Ghosh was detained by the CBI on August 16 in a corruption case. He was arrested on September 14 in the rape-murder case.
Junior doctors of West Bengal will return to duty from Saturday, September 21. They will work partially in emergency and essential services. They will also go to the flood-affected districts of the state. However, they will not work in OPD.
Doctors were on strike for the last 42 days after the rape-murder of a trainee doctor on 9 August at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. They had announced to return to work on 19 September. The doctors have also ended their protest outside the Health Bhavan.
On the other hand, the CBI filed a petition in the Sealdah court on Friday, September 20, for a narco test of medical college principal Sandip Ghosh. The agency also wants to conduct a polygraph test of former Tala police station in-charge Abhijit Mandal.
According to the Times of India report, Sandip Ghosh has refused to give his consent for the narco test. The court has extended the CBI custody of Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal till September 25. The CBI’s petition regarding the narco test and polygraph test will be heard on September 23.

CBI said- some statements of Ghosh are misleading, not helping in the investigation A CBI official said Ghosh was not cooperating in the investigation. The agency also told the court that the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) report had termed some of his statements as misleading.
If permission for narco test is granted, the agency is planning to take Ghosh to Gujarat. Ghosh has already undergone a polygraph test. CBI arrested Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal on September 14 on charges of tampering with evidence in the rape-murder case.
The CBI had arrested Ghosh on August 16 in connection with the financial irregularities in the medical college. Sandeep Ghosh had resigned from the post of principal on August 12, the third day after the rape-murder incident on August 9.
Doctors said- some of our demands are still unfulfilled

The doctors had said on September 19 that due to the flood situation in West Bengal and the state government agreeing to some of our demands, we have decided to partially return to work.
The junior doctors said that on our demand, the Kolkata Police Commissioner, Director of Medical Education and Director of Health Services have been removed. However, this does not mean that the movement is over. Our demand to remove the state’s Health Secretary NS Nigam and end the threat culture in hospitals still continues.
The Bengal government had removed Vineet Goyal from the post of Police Commissioner Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had a meeting with the doctors on September 16. After the meeting, Mamata said that we have accepted 3 out of 5 demands of the doctors. The CM appealed to the doctors to return to work and said that she would not take any action against the protesting doctors.
On the demand of doctors, the Bengal government removed Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal from his post. Manoj Verma took his place. Four more officers of the Health Department have also been transferred.
The confrontation lasted for 7 days over the meeting of Mamata and doctors There was a 7-day standoff in Kolkata over the meeting between the doctors and Mamata. After 4 failed attempts, a meeting was held between Mamata and the doctors’ delegation at the CM House on 16 September. In this meeting, Mamata accepted 3 out of 5 demands of the doctors and asked them to return to work.
Doctors And after the CM’s meeting on September 16, 4 more officers of the health department were transferred. Medical Education Director Dr. Kaustuv Nayak was made the Director of Health-Family Welfare. Health Services Director Dr. Debashish Haldar has been made OSD of Public Health. Tripurari Atharva was chosen as the Director of DEO.
Apart from this, the posts of 5 more police officers were also changed. Javed Shamim ADG Law and Order, Vineet Goyal ADG and IG Special Task Force, Gyanwant Singh ADG and IG Intelligence Bureau, Deepak Sarkar North Collector, Abhishek Gupta CO EFR Second Battalion are included.

West Bengal Medical Council canceled the registration of Sandeep Ghosh The West Bengal Medical Council has cancelled the registration of former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh. An explanation was sought from Sandeep earlier, but the council took this step when no explanation was received even after more than 13 days.
On the other hand, new commissioner Manoj Verma visited RG Kar College and Hospital on Thursday, September 19. In protest against this incident, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Jawahar Sarkar resigned from Parliament membership.
