The CBI team along with central security forces reached RG Kar Hospital late on Thursday (August 15) night.

The CBI on Thursday (August 15) reached the house of a trainee doctor to investigate the rape-murder case at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Officials spoke to the victim’s parents. An official said that it was difficult to talk to the couple who had lost their daughter in such a way.

According to news agency ANI, the CBI asked the doctor’s parents about the time on August 9 when they received a call from the hospital about their daughter’s death. The officials also asked the parents about the victim’s friends.

CBI has also questioned 5 doctors of the hospital, former Superintendent-cum-Vice-Principal (MSVP), Principal and Head of Chest Department. CBI also spoke to the in-charge of Tala Police Station, in whose area the hospital is located. Late on Thursday night, CBI team also reached the hospital after doing RG.

On the other hand, politics has intensified in Bengal over the rape-murder incident. Both Trinamool Congress and BJP are going to protest today (16 August). Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will take out a rally demanding death penalty for the culprit.

BJP will also protest in every district of Bengal today. In Kolkata, BJP will take out a candle light march to the Chief Minister’s residence. BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar said that law and order has completely collapsed in the state. In such a situation, CM Mamata Banerjee should resign.

IMA announces 24 hour strike across the country
In protest against the Kolkata incident, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced a 24-hour strike by doctors in the country from August 17. IMA issued a press release on Thursday (August 15) night.

It has been told that doctors across the country will be on strike for 24 hours from 6 am on Saturday, August 17 to 6 am on Sunday, August 18. During this time, OPDs will not work and no surgeries other than emergency will be performed. Only emergency services will remain operational.

The principal said- trust me or don’t expect anything
Here, the resentment of resident doctors has increased after the incident of vandalism at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital late night on August 14. On Thursday (August 15), the protesting doctors put pressure on the newly appointed principal Suhrita Pal to take action against the mob attack and meet the demands of medical students and doctors.

At this, the new principal lost her temper. She told the doctors, “If you cannot trust me, then send me home too. I need time to take official action. You need to trust me. I will not go anywhere. If you cannot trust me, then do not expect anything from me.”

On the night of 14th August, a crowd of 1000 people entered the emergency ward of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The crowd threw away the machines kept there. They vandalised the furniture. They also damaged CCTV cameras. They vandalised police vehicles and threw stones at the police.

Fear of gang rape of trainee doctor
Dr. Suvarna Goswami, Additional Secretary of All India Government Doctors Association, on August 14, citing the postmortem report, said that this could not be rape but gangrape. He said that 151mg of semen was found from the private part of the trainee doctor. Such a large quantity cannot belong to a single person. There is every possibility that more than one person may be involved in the rape case.

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has given a statement 5 days after the incident. He said- Instead of providing justice to the victim, efforts are being made to save the accused. This thing raises serious questions on the hospital and the local administration. The culprits should be given such a punishment that it becomes an example to stop such incidents in the society.

Postmortem report reveals brutality against trainee doctor
The police handed over the postmortem report to the trainee doctor’s family on August 12, which stated that the trainee doctor was raped and assaulted on the night of August 8-9 and then strangulated and killed. The incident is estimated to have taken place between 3 and 5 am on August 9.

The four-page postmortem report said that the accused had brutally assaulted the doctor. Deep wounds were found on his private parts. The accused continuously pressed his nose, mouth and throat to suppress the doctor’s screams. The thyroid cartilage was broken due to strangulation.

The doctor’s head was pushed against the wall so that he could not scream. Injuries were found on the stomach, lips, fingers and left leg. Then he was attacked so forcefully that his glasses broke and glass pieces entered his eyes. There was bleeding from both eyes, mouth and private parts.
