Nitin Agarwal is a 1989 batch IPS officer of Kerala cadre.

The central government has removed Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Nitin Agarwal and Deputy Special DG YB Khurania from their posts late on Friday night. Separate orders have been issued to remove both of them with immediate effect. Both have been asked to report to their respective home cadres.

Nitin Agarwal, a 1989 batch Kerala cadre officer, will be the first BSF DG to leave his tenure midway. All those who have served as DG before him have completed their tenure. Agarwal took charge in June last year. His tenure was to end in 2026.

Sakshi Mittal, Director of Department of Personnel Training, has issued these orders. On July 30, the Home Ministry had asked the Cabinet Appointment Committee to issue these orders. However, it has not been told yet why both the top officers of BSF have been removed. Information about what responsibility they have been given in the home cadre has also not been revealed yet.
