Dallewal’s body has become so weak due to the hunger strike that he is not even able to walk on his own. They have to be supported. He has been drinking only water for 23 days.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal (70), who has been on a fast unto death for 23 days on the Khanauri border of Haryana-Punjab, is in danger of multiple organ failure. Dallewal is already a cancer patient. Due to the fast, his blood pressure is also getting low, which can also lead to heart attack.

.

The team of government doctors looking after him is continuously recommending his hospitalization. However, Dallewal has refused to end the fast until 13 demands are met, including a law to guarantee the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops.

Dainik Bhaskar spoke to different medical experts regarding the condition of farmer leader Dallewal. Everyone was saying that if his fast unto death was not broken soon and he was admitted to the hospital, then his condition could worsen.

First of all, know the condition of Dallewal and the 4 big dangers related to it in these 2 graphics…

Dr. Priyanshu, cancer specialist of Mohali’s Livasa Hospital, said – Dallewal’s starvation is worrying, he also gave 4 reasons for it…

1. Older age, cancer patients too, prolonged fasting is not good Dr. Priyanshu says that Jagjit Dallewal is 70 years old. At this age, many parts of the body become weak with increasing age. Being hungry at this age is not good for the body. Dallewal is also a cancer patient. According to the medical general treatment advice of doctors, a cancer patient or a patient undergoing cancer treatment is not allowed to fast for a long time. On the contrary, Dallewal has been consuming only water for 23 days.

2. Immunity will reduce, bad effect on kidney and liver. They are at risk of malnutrition due to prolonged starvation. Due to this, the ability to fight diseases i.e. immunity reduces. This has a bad effect on the kidneys and liver.

Apart from this, Dallewal is elderly and despite having cancer, he has been staying hungry for a long time. In such a situation their sugar may be low. it’s their Can cause multiple organ failure.

Dallewal's condition is continuously deteriorating due to hunger.

3. Kidney failure may occur. According to the test report of the doctors looking after Dallewal, creatinine level in his body is increasing. Creatinine is a waste product produced by the breakdown of muscles. Under normal circumstances, the kidneys filter it from the blood and expel it from the body in the form of urine.

But, in Dallewal’s case this creatinine is accumulating in the blood. With this their The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is falling. This means that the ability of their kidneys to filter blood is decreasing. The level of ketones in his body has also increased. Due to this their blood can become poisonous. In such cases, kidney failure may occur.

4. Effect of ketones in urine on the body Presence of ketones has been found in Dallewal’s urine. This shows that their body is now using fat, not glucose, to survive. If this continues for a long time, it can affect the body’s digestion and memory. Even after breaking the fast unto death, many diseases can afflict them.

Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Senior Professor Oncologist of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, expressed 4 major concerns…

1. Reaches catabolism stage, starts self-destruction There is 7-8 days of reserve glucose in the human body. As soon as the reserve glucose for the liver gets exhausted, our body starts eating glucose from the muscles. If they are drinking only water then their body is not getting enough minerals. Then the catabolism stage of the body begins, in which self-destruction begins. That means the body starts eating itself.

2. Body becomes weak due to starvation despite cancer Dallewal is a prostate cancer patient. If he has already taken treatment for this, it will not affect his body much. But, being hungry makes the body weak. Due to age and cancer his body cannot bear it.

Farmer leader Dallewal now has to be supported and lifted up.

3. If BP decreases then fluid glucose will have to be given immediately. Normally the blood pressure of men above 60 years is 133/69 mm Hg. According to the report in Dallewal’s medical bulletin, blood pressure has become 80/50. Due to dehydration, Dallewal’s blood pressure is continuously decreasing. In such a situation, it may affect their heart. They need to immediately administer fluid glucose so that there is no threat to life.

4. Mineral deficiency first affects the kidneys and then the liver. An average person needs an average of 2500 calories a day, with the energy needed to perform physical activities. Since Dallewal is not doing any physical work at this time, his body’s requirement would be 1000 calories. However, not eating even a single grain of food will cause mineral deficiency in their body. Due to which his kidney and liver will be affected first. Ultimately multiple organ failure may occur.

What arrangements are being made for the health of Dallewal at Khanauri border? Two teams of doctors are deployed to monitor the health of Dallewal, who is fasting unto death at Khanauri border. One team is of government doctors from Patiala. The second team has been deployed on behalf of the farmers. Government doctors were allowed to provide care only when their reports matched those of the doctors called by the farmers.

Supreme Court has also expressed concern The Supreme Court has also expressed concern about the health of farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal. In the hearing on December 13, the Supreme Court had said that life is more important than agitation. After this, orders were given to the Punjab Government and the Central Government to immediately provide medical help to Dallewal.
