India on Tuesday officially gave embassy status to its technical mission in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that this embassy will further strengthen India’s role in the overall development, humanitarian assistance and capacity building of Afghanistan. The embassy will be headed by a senior diplomat, appointed as Chargé d’Affaires.
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had announced this in his meeting with Muttaki on October 10. With this step, diplomatic relations have been re-established between India and Afghanistan.
India had run a technical mission in Kabul since 2022, but now with the return of the embassy, India-Taliban relations will start afresh. Along with this, the question is also arising whether India can recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan.

There was a bilateral meeting between Jaishankar and Muttaki in New Delhi.
Afghanistan said- India has no role in the dispute with Pakistan
Afghanistan’s Defense Minister Maulvi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid has rejected the allegations against India that India had any role in the recent clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
In an interview, Yakub said that these allegations are completely baseless. He said,
Afghanistan has never allowed any other country to use its land. We are an independent country and our relations with India and Pakistan are decided only on the basis of national interests.

Pakistan had accused India
Recently, a few days after the blasts in Kabul on October 11, violence broke out on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
At that time, Taliban Foreign Minister Aamir Muttaki was on a visit to India. Soon after, Taliban fighters launched attacks on Pakistan’s southern border, to which Pakistan took action.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had held India responsible for these incidents. He had said that the leadership of Taliban is sitting in the lap of India.
India had given a strong reply to this. India had said that Pakistan has an old habit of blaming its neighbors for its internal failures.
