Why was the Hog Commission formed?

After this, under pressure from opposition leaders, PM Trudeau formed the Hog Commission in September 2023 to investigate the case. This commission was led by Justice Mary-Josie. It is formed so that the situation can be clear about the intervention of foreign forces in the Canadian elections. The Commission has submitted its report on Tuesday (January 28).

Jaishankar has been accusing the Trudeau government of sheltering Khalistani terrorists several times from different forums. However, a few days ago the Canadian Foreign Minister said that India is cooperating in the investigation of Nijjar’s murder.
Nijjar was killed while leaving the gurudwara On the evening of 18 June 2023, Nijjar was shot dead while leaving a gurdwara in Surrey city. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau accused the Indian government of involvement in Nijjar’s murder, which was rejected by India.
After this, there was a lot of conflict in the mutual relationship between the two countries. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had alleged that Canada gives visas to those who are wanted in India. He had said, “People associated with organized crimes in Punjab are welcomed in Canada.”
At the same time, the Canadian Parliament paid tribute to Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on the completion of one year of murder. For this, one minute silence was kept in Parliament.
