Former Agriculture Minister and BJP candidate Kanwar Pal Gurjar will not have an easy road in this election from Jagadhari Assembly seat of Yamunanagar district in Haryana. He will face tough competition from Akram Khan of Congress and Aadarsh Pal Singh of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Apart from these, Darshan Singh Kheda from INLD-BSP and Dr. Ashok Kashyap from JJP-ASP are the candidates on this seat.
There are about 2.45 lakh voters in Jagadhari assembly seat. Here urban voters play a decisive role. The main issues here are industry, illegal mining and increasing crime.
People say that in every election, Hindu-Muslim issues were raised here, but this time everyone is talking about development. Urban voters are angry with BJP due to lack of development. Kanwarpal is also facing anti-incumbency. Kanwarpal Gurjar failed to stop illegal mining while being a minister. Secondly, Darshan Singh Kheda, who left BJP and joined BSP, will also become a problem for him. People of Vaishya community are angry with BJP due to lack of industries.
Adarsh Pal Singh also belongs to the Gujjar caste. Therefore, apart from the Gujjar caste, he will also get votes from the Vaish community. This will directly harm the BJP.
According to people, Congress’s Akram Khan is in a strong position here. Apart from Muslim votes, he will also get votes from Jats, Jat Sikhs and other castes. He will benefit from the Congress wave in the rural belt. That is why he is busy wooing urban voters.

- Jagadhari assembly seat has not been the stronghold of any one party. In this election, BJP is facing anti-incumbency. There are 18 thousand votes of Gurjar caste in this seat. Apart from BJP, these votes will also go towards AAP’s Aadarsh Pal Singh. Apart from this, other castes coming under OBC are also inclined towards BJP.
- Congress last won this seat in 2005. Congress is facing a 15-year drought here. The Muslim community has around 30 thousand votes here. Apart from this, most of the votes of Jats and Jat Sikhs will also go in favor of Congress. Akram Khan has been a BSP MLA, he also has a hold on the Scheduled Castes.
- After Arvind Kejriwal’s road show in support of Adarsh Pal Singh, the equations of Gujjar and Vaishya votes have also changed. There are chances of more votes of Gujjar caste shifting towards AAP. Vaishya voters angry with the slowdown in industries may shift towards AAP. Vaishya community has around 25 thousand votes on this seat.
- Darshan Singh Kheda belongs to the Punjabi community. There are about 20 thousand votes of Punjabi caste here. Due to alliance with BSP, he will also make inroads into 40 thousand votes of scheduled castes. If we look at the trend of Punjabi voters in the last 3 elections, they have gone towards BJP. Darshan Singh has left BJP and joined BSP. In such a situation, BJP will suffer a direct loss.
- JJP-ASP candidate Dr. Ashok Kashyap comes from OBC community. Kashyap caste has 11 thousand votes in Jagadhri. Some votes of Scheduled Caste and OBC community will go to him, which will cause direct loss to BJP.
Kanwarpal Gurjar is asking for votes in the name of 10 years of development
Kanwarpal Gurjar joined BJP in the year 1990. He has been the General Secretary of Yamunanagar district twice and the State General Secretary thrice. In 1991, he contested his first election from Chhachhrauli assembly seat and lost. In 2014, he contested from Jagadhari seat and became MLA. Then he was given the post of Assembly Speaker in Manohar Lal Khattar’s government. In the 2019 assembly elections, he became MLA again and was made Education Minister.
Acting Chief Minister Nayab Saini has come to campaign for Kanwarpal Gurjar in this election. He is asking for votes in the name of development work done during his 10-year tenure. Apart from this, he is telling the public that during his tenure as Education Minister, people got jobs without any slip or expenditure.
Akram Khan raised the issue of inflation and unemployment
Akram Khan became an independent MLA from Chhachhrauli assembly seat in 1996. In 1998, he was made the chairman of Haryana Housing Board and Minister of State for Home in Chaudhary Bansi Lal’s government. In 2000, he became the chairman of Dairy Development and Cooperative Union Limited in the Chautala government. In 2009, he contested from Jagadhari seat on BSP ticket and became MLA.
In 2019, he joined the Congress under the leadership of Kumari Selja. In the assembly elections held this year, he contested on a Congress ticket and stood second.
MP Kumari Selja has come to campaign for Akram Khan in this election. He is asking for votes from the public by raising the issue of inflation and unemployment which has been rising in the state for the last 10 years. Apart from this, he is claiming that after coming to power, he will curb the increasing crime and illegal mining in the city.
Adarsh Pal Singh is asking for votes in the name of education and medical facilities
Adarsh Pal Singh contested his first assembly election from Jagadhari seat on a BSP ticket in 2019. He got 47,988 votes then. After this he joined the Aam Aadmi Party. He had joined the Congress 2 months ago. After his ticket was cut, he again went to the Aam Aadmi Party.
On September 20, Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal came to Jagadhri for a road show. He appealed for votes for Adarsh Pal Singh. He has accused Bhupinder Singh Hooda of betraying him for not getting the ticket.
Adarsh Pal Singh is asking for votes from the people regarding education and medical facilities on the basis of Delhi model.

Rajkumar Singh, a resident of Jagadhari, said that Kanwarpal will have to face the anti-incumbency wave this time. This time people will make Akram Khan the MLA.

Hansraj said- there is competition between Congress and BJP
Hansraj said that this time the competition seems to be between only two parties. The first one is Congress and the second one is BJP. The strongest is Akram Khan. BJP has caused damage to Jagadhari and BJP will have to bear the brunt of this loss.
Villagers troubled by illegal mining
On the condition of anonymity, the person said that mining is in full swing in the rural areas of Jagadhari assembly constituency. Mining is being done here both legally and illegally. The villagers are troubled by this. Accidents are happening continuously. Along with this, the environment is also deteriorating. The graph of crime in the area is also increasing rapidly.
As a minister, Kanwar Pal could not take any concrete steps to stop the mining mafia. Some of the minister’s people were also involved in the mining business.
