Hindi film Homebound was released in theaters worldwide on 26 September 2025.
Director Neeraj Ghaywan’s film Homebound has been included in the top 15 shortlist films of the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards i.e. Oscar Awards. The film stars Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences shared the shortlist of 12 categories on Tuesday. A total of 15 films have been selected in the International Feature Film category. Out of these, only 5 films will get final nomination in future. These nominations will be announced on 22 January 2026. After this, the Oscar Awards event will take place on March 15, 2026.
The films that have been shortlisted along with Homebound include Argentina’s Belen, Brazil’s The Secret Agent, France’s It Was Just an Accident, Germany’s Sound of Falling, Iraq’s The President’s Cake, Japan’s Kokuho, Jordan’s All That’s Left of You, Norway’s Sentimental Values, Palestine 36, South Korea’s No Other Choice, Spain’s Sirat, Switzerland’s Late Shift, Taiwan’s Left Handed Girl and Tunisia’s The Voice of Hind Rajab.

Expressing happiness over this achievement, Karan Johar, one of the producers of the film, wrote on Instagram that the journey of Homebound has been full of pride and happiness for him. He thanked director Neeraj Ghaywan and said that this journey from Cannes to Oscar shortlist has been special. He also congratulated the entire cast and crew. Karan also said that the film is now streaming on Netflix India.
