118 -year -old dispute in Thailand and Cambodia

When Cambodia was under France in 1907, a long border of 817 km was drawn between the two countries.

Thailand opposed this, as the map was shown in the Preh Vihar (Priya Vihar) temple in part of Cambodia.

At the same time, the Ta Mun Thom Temple was shown in Thailand, while Cambodia considers it its own. In such a situation, both countries were not happy with border division.

There was a dispute between the two countries on this. However, despite this dispute, there have been good relations between the leaders of the two countries.

In 2023, Thacasin Shinavatra went to Cambodia on Hun Sen's 72nd birthday.

Friendship of family of two countries changed in enmity

Former Prime Minister of Thailand, Thailand, has been an old friend of Thailand and former Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen. The friendship of the two began in the 1990s, when Thacsin invested in Cambodia through his company.

Thacsin became the Prime Minister of Thailand in 2001, but in 2006 the Thai army attacked and removed him from power. Thacasin had to leave the country and flee. Then Hun Sen gave him shelter in Cambodia. Hun Sen also made Thacsin an economic advisor to Cambodia in 2009.

This was the reason that when the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia started on May 28, the daughter of Thakasin Shinavatra and the then PM of Thailand called Hun Sen, former President of Cambodia, Hun Sen to resolve it.

In 2023, Hun Sen handed over the post of Prime Minister to his son Hun Mannet and became the Speaker of Parliament himself. Even after leaving the post of Prime Minister, Hun Sen is considered the most powerful leader of the country.

This was the reason that the PM spoke directly to Hun Sen, but the recording of the conversation was leaked.

Conflict increased in Buddhist countries over Shiva temple

On the other hand, Hun Sen and Cambodian government were promoting in the country that PM was not running in Thailand and the army is not under their control. In such a situation, they will not back down.

Meanwhile, Cambodia increased patrolling in border areas. The Thai Army started retaliation to gain control on its reputation and border.

Meanwhile, on 24 June, the two countries clashed near the 900 -year -old Shiva Temple (Prasat Ta Mun Thaom) on the Thailand and Cambodia border. Both countries assert their rights on this temple. The temple comes in the map of Thailand, but Cambodia considers it its heritage.

Cambodia alleged that Thai soldiers put a barbed wire around the temple at 6:30 am on Thursday morning. After this, he left a drone at around 7.00 am and did aerial firing at around 8.30 pm. After this, he had to take necessary action.
