Actor Pankaj Tripathi, actress Shweta Basu and Surveen Chawla have worked for OTT in addition to the big screen. All three are a well -known face of OTT platforms. His web series ‘Criminal Justice 4’ is coming soon.

In a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, he expressed his opinion on issues like PR image, OTT vs theater. They believe that both have their own identity. However, there is more Democratic platform than the OTT theater.

Read the major parts of the interview…

Does the actor feel a pressure in front of the media that is made in front of the actor?

Surveen- It is his job to make image. My job is, I should be what I am. My job as an actor should be that I can create an image of whatever character I play. If I have done this, I am on the right path. Apart from this, making image is not in your hand. I believe that instead of wasting my time behind the image, focus on my work. Talk about my work, not my image.

Shweta- I agree with Surveen’s words. My PR only happens when I am promoting a show or a film. My interviews come around that. I disappear in the rest of the time. When you have to post on social media, then I am active and then disappear.

My focus is at work. When I am at home, the focus is at home and when I am with friends, the whole focus is on them. These are all my different characters, which I am playing in real life. In such a situation, whatever the meaning of what he shows, he is OK for me.

The new season of Criminal Justice is a family matter issue. How much is your partner or family support?

Pankaj- Mridula has always stood in support. Acting work is a delicate work anyway. We go home with the displeasure of the characters and give our happiness to the characters. The actor is the only worker of the world, who performs emotional labor. The rest of the people do mental and physical labor.

There is sadness in life, but on the same day we have to look happy on screen in shooting. There is an atmosphere of happiness in life, then many times we have to show sorrow on the screen. In such a situation, it is possible that you take the anger of the character, take the pain home. In such a situation, wife children in the house also start to understand that their minds still dominate their minds.

In our Indian society, the family does a lot of matter. In Western society, it happens that if the child is 18 years old, he is given his responsibility. My mother does not watch my acting on TV. I see whether I am thin or fat. If it looks thin, you will call that you saw on TV, you look very thin, that is, you are not taking care.

Shweta- My family matters a lot to me. The family is like a pulse. If everything in the family is right, then you are able to breathe properly. For me this season is beyond the court room. If you see the show, you will know how small things can become a legal case. Even small things are matter in life.

Only the family knows well about each other. I think the family does a lot of matter. Work is part of life but the family is not part. The family is the base on which all the things of life depend.

Surveen- Recently I have seen a children’s film two or three times. In it, your mind is shown to be the headquarters. Each character in that headquarters is your emotion. Such as Joy, Sadness, Happiness, Anger, Frustration. Just like when to turn on which switch to the editing table, the same happens with these emotion. The film shows that the brain has some island on the basis of the headquarters. The little girl is a story, so the family, friendship, favorite place, happiness, fun are also the island of the family.

The picture shows how all the islands fall and break. But when the family’s island breaks, then that girl also breaks. The effect of that thing is on that girl, I think we are all that child. There is nothing more than the family for all of us, when the family breaks, we will also break. This is what the family means in my life.

All three of you have worked on all the medium of cinema. Does it seem that the charm of cinema is decreasing due to OTT?

Pankaj- There is no screen problem with OTT and 24 hours presence. There is new technology. Even if seen as growth, the number of theater has not increased in five years, according to which subscriptions of OTT have increased. Experience is different from both. OTT you see alone and enjoy watching with community in the theater. I think both will remain and both have their own identity. The growth of both is complete. OTT is a little more Democratic Reach, numbers and a chance to give new talent. The easier you want to do here, the more easy exiting it is.

Surveen- I do not think the charm of cinema has reduced due to OTT. Yes, restriction on OTT is currently less, there is freedom to choose content, creative liberty is slightly more. I believe that because of all these freedom, the makers are able to show the story according to their own. If the rest is good, then it will go anywhere. The content is more good or bad than the content. It has nothing to do with the platform.

Shweta- If anything new comes, people feel that the old will eat. However, this does not happen. Today cargo ship also runs and airplanes are also running. Even today, email is selected for formal messages and there are other platforms for communication. There is also a theater, YouTube and OTT. Nobody is vs. Everyone wants to tell good stories, want to work with good people.

It is simple that everyone wants to make money in business. After every 15-20 years, such a phase comes when it is seen what the audience likes. The generation is changing, so this phase comes in every generation and in a few years. I also agree with Surveen’s words, if the story is interesting then people will buy tickets and go theater.

OTT is quite a Democratic platform. Suppose if we make a small budget film, then it will get a time slot of 11 and night 11 in the theater. But when the film goes to OTT, she will be present with the rest of the show 24 hours. In such a situation, it is the choice of the audience when she wants to see her. On the OTT, you are not telling the exhibitors that you watch the film at 11 am.
