Born in Varanasi and brought up in Delhi, Vyom Yadav chose the path of acting after studying engineering. Vyom, who was interested in street plays since his school days, joined acting classes during college and made his debut with Dharma Production’s web series ‘Guilty’.

Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Garmi’ web series gave him recognition. Vyom’s film ‘Mannu Kya Karega’ has recently been released and will soon be seen in the film ‘Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi’ with Sanjay Mishra and Mahima Chaudhary. Vyom Yadav recently had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. Here are some highlights…

Question: Tell us something about yourself?

answer: I was born in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), but came to Delhi in my childhood and was brought up here. He did his schooling from a private school in Delhi and then took a mechanical engineering degree from Netaji Subhash University of Technology. Mother is a housewife and father is Joint General Manager in Airport Authority of India.

Question: When did you get inclined towards acting?

answer: Used to perform street plays since sixth class. Had to leave acting in 10th class due to board exams, but joined acting classes again in college. Came to know about the audition through friends and got selected the first time. Worked on the pilot episode of the traveling show, but it did not go on air. I used to give auditions while living in Delhi, then calls started coming from Mumbai also. At the end of 2018, I got a chance to play a small role in Dharma Production’s web series ‘Guilty’ and it was from here that my real interest in acting arose.

Question: How much support did you get from your parents?

answer: Initially father wanted me to go into engineer or civil services. But when he started doing street plays, advertisements etc. during college, they supported him. When I got my first ad, my father realized that this was my passion. After completing my studies, I did a work-from-home job for six months, it was a very difficult time. There was no rest at all. He used to make auditions during lunch break itself. During the same audition, she got Tigmanshu Dhulia’s web series ‘Garmi’ in December 2021.

Question: How was the experience of shooting for ‘Garmi’?

answer: Tigmanshu sir used to teach every small and big thing, like bringing life to the character, background work etc. Working with him was like studying at FTII.

Question: What benefit did you get from this show?

answer: After ‘Garmi’ people started recognizing him. The producer of ‘Mannu Kya Karega’ saw my work in the same show and cast me. In this way new paths kept opening.

Question: Which was the next project after ‘Garmi’?

answer: Got some projects, but didn’t like the script and left it. Soon my film ‘Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi’ will be released, in which Sanjay Mishra sir and Mahima Choudhary ma’am are in the lead roles. This is a funny story, in which I want to marry a girl, but her family says there is no woman in your house, so I get my father married. Sanjay Mishra sir has played the character of my father.

Question: How was the experience of working with Sanjay Mishra?

answer: Very good. In one scene he said, “Keep your shoulders loose, otherwise it will not look natural.” They taught so thoroughly that I learned a lot. Seeing his experience, I understood that even small gestures make a big difference in acting.

Question: How was the experience of shooting ‘Mannu Kya Karega’?

answer: The film was shot at the UPS University campus in Dehradun. Staying in the hostel made it easier to get into the character. Mountains were visible in the morning, there was peace, no traffic.

Question: Who are your role models?

answer: Irrfan Khan’s natural acting and Shahrukh Khan’s charm, both are inspirations for me.

Question: Ever missed a project after getting finalized?

answer: Yes, it happened many times. It was almost final in a big project, but it changed at the last moment. Now I have learned to remain detached.
