In which a Punjabi fruit picker Satnam Singh died after his hand was cut off by a machine. Satnam’s hand was cut off after he got caught in a strawberry wrapping machine in Lazio near Rome. After which he was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Italy used to bring citizens on work permit
According to a Reuters report, police said the alleged gang-masters, who were from India, brought fellow citizens to Italy on seasonal work permits. Each bonded labourer was brought in by paying them 17,000 euros per month and promising them a better future. But once they arrived, things changed.
According to the police report, the Indians were made to work in the fields, seven days a week, for 10-12 hours a day. They were paid 4 euros per hour. They were forced to do bonded labour until they paid off their debts.
Additional 13 thousand euros for permanent work permit
The police statement said that some people were promised permanent work permits. For this, they were charged an additional 13,000 euros. They used to work for free until the full amount was paid.
Police said the accused would be prosecuted for labour exploitation while the victims would be offered work opportunities and legal residence papers.
