Morgan Stanley International President Jonathan Bloomer and his wife were also on board the yacht. Their death has not been confirmed. The rescue operation was stopped due to nightfall. Divers said that they will try to retrieve the body on Thursday as well.

There were 22 people on board the Bayesian yacht, including 12 crew members from the US, UK and Canada. 15 people were rescued after the yacht sank. One person died on the spot. 6 people were reported missing on Monday.

Questions raised over the sinking of the yacht
The Bayesian yacht was anchored about 18 km from Sicily’s capital Palermo. After its sinking, questions have arisen as to how it sank so quickly, while the other yachts nearby did not suffer any damage.

Reports say that due to the winds, one of the masts of the yacht broke, causing the yacht to lose its balance and capsize. The company that built the yacht, Pereni Navi, has described this accident as a human error. The company’s head Giovanni Costantino said that it took 16 minutes for the ship to sink.

Speaking to the Italian government channel, Costantino said that the ship was filled with water, which is why it sank. An investigation is being conducted to find out where the water filled in it from.

Scientists said – the yacht sank due to global warming
Italian meteorologist Luca Mercali said that this yacht might have sunk due to global warming. The scientist told news agency Reuters that Italy had experienced severe heat for several weeks. Now there are severe storms and rains.

This is happening due to global warming. At the time of the accident, the sea surface temperature around Sicily was about 30 degrees Celsius, which is about 3 degrees more than normal. This is also the reason for big storms.

British businessman Mike Lynch (59), who died in a yacht accident, was long called Britain’s Bill Gates. He founded a software company Autonomy Corporation in 1996. It used to do data analysis for companies. His company grew rapidly. Lynch became very famous in the business world. Because of this, he was also made the economic advisor of British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Seeing the success of Autonomy, in 2011, computer manufacturing company HP bought it for $11.7 billion. This was Europe’s biggest technology deal at that time. However, soon after, HP accused him of cheating. HP alleged that Lynch sold the company at a higher price than necessary. Lynch should return $5 billion.

HP appealed for Lynch’s extradition to the US. This case lasted for 12 years. He had to go to the US in May 2023. He was detained in San Francisco jail for 13 months. Lynch argued that HP liked his company and bought it only after finding out everything. He neither hatched any conspiracy nor committed any fraud for this.
