Singer and actor Prashant Tamang died on Sunday at the age of 43. He suffered a stroke and died at his residence in New Delhi, NDTV reported. Prashant became famous across the country by winning the TV show Indian Idol Season 3. Apart from this, he was also seen in the role of Daniel in the second part of the web series Paatal Lok.
Reacting to the news of Prashant’s sudden demise, BJP MP from Darjeeling and party’s national spokesperson Raju Bishta said that Tamang’s demise has come as a deep shock to the Gorkha community and the world of art and music. He said that winning Indian Idol in 2007 was a proud moment for the Gorkha community. This victory gave national recognition to Nepali music.
Raju Bishta also said that Tamang’s journey in the reality show was going to connect the people of Darjeeling Hills, Terai, Dooars, Sikkim and North East together. He told that at the time of participating in Indian Idol, Tamang was serving in the West Bengal Police Orchestra.
Let us tell you that after winning Indian Idol, Prashant Tamang released his first album Thanks. He also performed many live shows abroad. Later he turned to films and started acting in 2010 with the Nepali film ‘Gorkha Paltan’.
