IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, will start offering business class on some domestic flights from November. The company has also introduced a new tab for booking it.

The CEO of the company said that it will start from Delhi-Mumbai route. The company wants to attract its premium passengers through this. The airline will launch its business class cabin on a total of 12 routes within the country.

This includes cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. Peter Elbers, CEO of InterGlobe Aviation, the company that operates IndiGo, said at a company event that this would be an excellent business class.

Last week, the company released its first quarter results. During this, the airline’s CEO said that the airline is going to start business class on India’s busiest routes.

IndiGo’s profit declined by 12% in the first quarter
Low-cost airline IndiGo’s profit in the first quarter (January-March) of FY 2024-25 was Rs 2,729 crore. It has declined by 12% on a year-on-year (YoY). The company’s consolidated net profit in the same quarter a year ago was Rs 3,091 crore.

IndiGo’s consolidated revenue from operations has increased by 17% year-on-year. Revenue from operations stood at Rs 19,571 crore in the first quarter of FY25. Revenue stood at Rs 16,683 crore in the same quarter a year ago i.e. the first quarter of FY24.

15 passenger aircraft increased, 1.1% flights were cancelled

  • As of June 30, 2024, IndiGo had 382 aircraft in its fleet. 15 passenger aircraft were added during the quarter.
  • IndiGo operated the maximum number of 2,029 daily flights, including non-scheduled flights, during the quarter.

  • There was a cash balance of ₹36100.6 crores. There is free cash of ₹22087.6 crores and restricted cash of ₹14013 crores.
  • IndiGo had an on-time performance of 74.8% across four major metros and a flight cancellation rate of 1.1%.
  • IndiGo carried 2.45 crore domestic passengers in this quarter. Its market share was 61%.
