Udit Narayan said – It is the end of an era for the music world. Singer Udit Narayan said that he could not believe after hearing the news of Asha ji’s demise. According to him, she was not just a singer but an important part of music history. Udit Narayan told that his childhood was spent in Nepal, where he used to listen to Asha ji on radio. He never thought that one day he would come to Mumbai and sing with him and share the mic. Recalling the incident of the film ‘Lagaan’, he said that A.R. Rehman had called him for “Radha kaise na jale”. First he recorded his part, then Asha ji made it memorable. Udit Narayan said that the biggest specialty of Asha ji was her versatility. She could sing every type of song, classical, romantic and pop with ease. He said that Asha ji was cheerful and funny in the studio, but as soon as she came in front of the mike, her voice gained tremendous power and magic. Udit Narayan said that despite increasing age, her voice did not get tired and she remained an inspiration for young artists. In the end he said that Asha ji’s passing is the end of an era for the music world, but her voice and legacy will always be alive in our hearts. Anu Malik said- Her hand was hurt, yet she came to the recording for me “My mother was gone in 2021, and I feel again my mother is gone… this is very sad news,” Anu Malik became emotional while saying this. He told that when he recorded his first song, he was 14 years old. At that time he had to call Asha Bhosle to the studio to sing. Hariharan said that he learned a big lesson from that experience, if you want to become big then it is important to be simple and focus on work. He said that he has kept this learning till today. He told that in 2007, in the early phase of his career, the first album came in 2006. He got a tour of about a month in the US and Canada with Asha Bhosle. During this period he performed in about 10 cities. Kailash Kher said that he got to know him closely during that tour. Despite being such a senior artiste, her behavior was simple and friendly. Whether it was a car or a flight, she was cordial and easy-going everywhere. He said, “This showed me the real nature of her nature, very friendly and polite. It was not that she was proud of being senior. She used to talk to everyone equally and lovingly.” Kailash Kher said that long tours reveal the true nature of a person, his behavior and humility. He saw the same quality in Asha Bhosle, despite being a senior, she was a simple, down to earth and sensitive personality. Anoop Jalota said – Asha ji is immortal and will always be remembered. The second strong pillar of playback singing of the Indian film industry is gone. There were two big pillars, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. New singers consider them as their role models. He created a university with his singing, from which generations will continue to learn. Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota said that Asha ji’s demise is a big loss for the film industry. He told that Asha Bhosle was fond of cooking and many times she prepared kebabs and biryani and served her. He said that due to this hobby, restaurants were started in his name at many places. He has restaurants in many countries including Dubai, where dishes of his choice are served. According to Anup Jalota, Asha Bhosle cannot be forgotten. She was a strong pillar of Indian film music. He sang all types of songs, bhajans, ghazals and filmi songs. His command of every genre was excellent. There was both flirtatiousness and pause in his voice. This is what makes them different. Lalit Pandit said – Asha Bhosle was the last legend, there was no one like her, nor will there be. Remembering Asha Bhosle, Lalit Pandit said, “I had talked to her only two weeks ago. When I called and asked about her health, she spoke very lovingly for a long time. She said – she is not well, but is doing well. There was the same closeness in that conversation, which was always there.” He says, “Our relationship is very old. I have been singing with her since childhood, she knew us since then. Later, she sang for us in films like Khiladi, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. She put her soul into every song. The expressions she gave in ‘Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main’ are an example even today.” Lalit Pandit says, “She was a great artiste, but never let us feel. Before every song, she used to come to the music room to rehearse and create such an environment that we kept learning. Her nature was polite and cheerful.” He recalls, “He played a big role in our career. He was the one who called Yash Chopra and asked him to listen to us. That one call changed our lives.” Finally he says, “Her versatility has no match. The work she did will never be done again. It’s a big loss for the industry, but her songs will live on forever. She was truly the last great artiste.” Uttam Singh said – At 1.30 in the night, Asha ji herself cooked food and fed him. Musician Uttam Singh said that many memories were made while working with Asha ji, which also included the period of the film Dil To Pagal Hai. At that time he closely observed his dedication and energy towards his work. He told that once the work was going on till 1:30 in the night. Just when they were going out, Asha ji came. When he came to know that no one had eaten the food, he prepared chicken and rice in 15 minutes and fed it to everyone. This shows their affinity. Uttam Singh told that Asha ji was professional in her work. Once she came for a recording, her face was flushed and her eyes were moist, but while singing she sang a wonderful cabaret song and no one had any idea of her condition. He said that artists like Asha Bhosle are born very rarely. He sang thousands of songs, which will remain alive in hearts. The industry has suffered a big loss with his departure, but his voice and work will keep him immortal. Dabboo Malik said – A big chapter of music has ended. Singer-composer Dabboo Malik said that after hearing the news of Asha Bhosle’s demise, he felt as if a big chapter of music has ended. According to him, his life has been inspirational and his musical journey is like a book. Dabboo Malik told that Asha ji had a deep relationship with his family, Sardar Malik, Anu Malik and the entire family. She helped her father Sardar Malik in difficult times and was always concerned about the family. He said that Asha ji was not only a great singer, but also a great person, who cared for everyone. He told that once he was teaching her to sing in the studio, when Asha ji said, “Okay, you sing.” When he said that he did not know harmonium, Asha ji did not make him feel inferior. He said that Asha ji explained to him that every person’s style is different and every artist is not an expert in everything. He gave them confidence and told them to never underestimate themselves. Dabboo Malik said that this experience was a motherly lesson for him and one of the biggest lessons of his life. Ramesh Sippy said – That magical voice of music has become silent forever. Director Ramesh Sippy described Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle as two strong pillars of Indian music. He said that comparisons kept happening, but Asha ji created her own identity.
