From October, Aadhaar enrolment number will not be valid for filing PAN application or income tax return. For this, Aadhaar number will now have to be given. The facility of making PAN on the basis of enrolment number is being provided since 2017.

The government said- More than one PAN can be generated from the enrollment ID of Aadhaar, so this has been done. The government also believes that the coverage of Aadhaar number has increased a lot, and almost all the people of India have got it.

Aadhaar enrolment ID is different from Aadhaar number
Aadhaar number is a 12-digit individual identification number, which serves as a proof of identity and address for the people of India. While Aadhaar Enrollment ID (EID) is a 14-digit number, which is given to the applicant applying for an Aadhaar card.

This is a copy of the Aadhaar card and enrollment. The 12 digit number at the bottom of the Aadhaar card is the Aadhaar number. Whereas, the 14 digit enrollment ID number is at the top left side of the AADHAAR enrollment copy.

There is no minimum or maximum age limit for PAN card
Any person of any age, group of persons, trust, LLP, firm or joint venture can apply for a PAN card. There is no minimum or maximum age limit for this. Apart from the required fee and two passport size photographs, residence certificate and identity proof are required along with the application form.

Identity proof and residential address required for PAN card
While applying for a PAN card, documents have to be submitted for both identity proof and residential address proof. Documents like Aadhaar card, voter ID card, driving license can be submitted for personal identity proof. Similarly, Aadhaar, voter card, government bank passbook can be submitted for residential address proof.
