Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, while addressing an election rally in Kamrup, Assam on Sunday, made a scathing attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Rahul said- Himanta is the most corrupt Chief Minister of the country. No matter how much they do, in the end the law will catch them and put them in jail.

Rahul alleged that the Chief Minister of Assam does politics of hatred and violence 24 hours a day. Referring to late singer Zubin Garg, he said that there is a big difference between his thinking and Sarma’s ideology. Rahul promised that justice will be provided to Zubin Garg within 100 days if Congress comes to power.

Here in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP have filed a complaint with the Election Commission accusing each other of hate speech. TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee alleged that the BJP candidate has made objectionable and threatening statements against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

BJP retaliated by filing a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal and alleged that Kalyan Banerjee made inflammatory and derogatory statements against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

  • Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting in Puducherry on Monday and release the party’s election manifesto. Congress’s Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in-charge Girish Chodankar said that this rally will be held at 11 am.
  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday accused the Central government of discriminating against the state. He said that the Center collects tax from Tamil Nadu but does not return its fair share and on the contrary questions where the money is going.
  • In the Baramati by-election of Maharashtra, Congress has fielded Akash More as its candidate against Sunetra Pawar. The decision has brought to fore differences in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), as Sharad Pawar faction’s NCP (SP) had decided not to field a candidate against Sunetra Pawar. Shiv Sena (UBT) had also indicated to keep the elections unopposed.
