Now understand the electoral mathematics in the three states…
Assam: Congress has been in power for 51 years, BJP is trying to score a hat-trick.

In the last 76 years, Assam has had 15 Chief Ministers in the state. Of these, Congress remained dominant for the longest period. 10 Chief Ministers of Congress held power for about 51 years.
In 1978, a non-Congress government was formed for the first time. Golap Borbora of Janata Party became the first non-Congress CM. But after 2 years Congress returned to power.
In 1985, ‘Assam Gana Parishad’ emerged as a new regional party, which challenged the Congress. In the same year, AGP’s Prafulla Kumar Mahant became the CM. He completed 2 alternative terms.
After this, Congress’s Tarun Gogoi took power in 2001. He won 3 consecutive elections and held the post of CM for a record 15 years.
In 2016, Assam became the only state in the entire North-East where BJP formed the government for the first time. Sarbananda Sonowal became CM.
In 2021, BJP won majority for the second consecutive time and Himanta Biswa Sarma took power. Himanta has relations with Congress, AGP and BJP.
He is a political disciple of AGP’s Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, a trusted lieutenant of Congress’s Tarun Gogoi and the face of the North-East in the BJP.
Kerala: Only Pinarayi Vijayan became CM for 2 consecutive times

Since the formation of Keralam in 1956, the state has had 12 Chief Ministers. Of these, 6 CMs were from the left, who held power for 39 years. Whereas 4 CMs were from Congress, who ran the government for 28 years.
CPI(M)’s E.K. Nayanar remained CM for the longest period of 11 years. He took oath as Chief Minister thrice, but never held the chair continuously.
UDF vs LDF politics started in 1980. For the last 46 years, both of them ran the government one by one, but in 2021 this unspoken tradition was broken.
In 2021, CPI(M)’s Pinarayi Vijayan returned to power after completing his first term as CM. In 70 years, Vijayan is the only CM who took oath twice consecutively.
7 out of 10 CMs in Puducherry were from Congress.

Puducherry Legislative Assembly was formed in 1963. Since then, 10 Chief Ministers have lived here. The politics here is run according to the influence of the Center and local alliances.
Due to this, 7 CMs of Puducherry were from Congress, who held power for about 32 years. Then in the 1970s, Dravidian parties like DMK and AIADMK entered. DMK formed the government 4 times and AIADMK formed the government 2 times.
After this, Congress rule started again, which continued till 2011. But senior Congress leader N. Rangasamy formed his own party AINRC and took power by winning the elections.
N. Rangasamy is a leader who took oath as CM a total of 4 times while being in Congress and then forming his own party AINRC.
In 2021, Rangasamy formed an alliance with BJP and formed the government. Rangasamy has been the CM for the longest period, about 17 years. Although this is not continuous.
