Amidst the H-1B visa controversy in America, the debate regarding foreign workers has now intensified. US Vice President JD Vance addressed foreign workers as cheap servants and said that we do not need them.
Taking aim at the opposition party, Vance said, ‘The Democrats’ model emphasizes on bringing low-wage immigrants into the country. This will harm the employment, wages and prosperity of the American people. Vance said that Trump’s model is another one that will open the way for development in America.
“American workers should be empowered by technology, not dependent on cheap foreign labor,” he said. Vance’s statement is different from Trump’s statement a few days ago, in which Trump had said that there is a shortage of certain talents in America.
Trump had said that there are not enough talented people in the country for many important jobs, hence foreign skilled workers are needed. At the same time, Trump’s party is preparing to bring a bill regarding H-1B visa, which may make it difficult for Indians to enter America.

Trump’s party preparing to completely abolish H-1B visa
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a member of the US House of Representatives and close to President Donald Trump, has said that the bill will be introduced soon. Marjorie of the Republican Party alleges that the H-1B visa is being misused.
Under the America First policy, the H-1B visa category will be abolished. However, he said that H-1B visas will be issued to 10 thousand doctors every year for the next 10 years. Currently, out of 85 thousand H-1B visas issued every year, about 70% visas are issued to Indians.
Trump had said- lack of talented people in America
In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump gave the example of a battery factory in Georgia. He told that the South Korean company had sent 500-600 experts to make batteries and train American employees.
In an immigration raid in September, an attempt was made to deport them from the country by declaring them illegal. Trump said, ‘Making batteries is a difficult and dangerous job. There is a shortage of such talents in America, hence visas like H-1B are necessary.

Trump said- talent will have to be brought from outside
Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham asked Trump whether the number of H-1B visas would be reduced because it affects the wages of American workers.
Trump responded, “Yes, I agree, but you also have to bring in talent from outside.”
When the anchor said that America has a lot of talented people, Trump said, “No, we do not have talent in certain areas. You cannot pick up unemployed people and send them to missile factories.”
Earlier in September, the Trump administration increased the application fee for H-1B visa by 100 times from $1,000 to $1 lakh.

On September 19, Trump signed an order related to changes in the rules regarding H-1B visas.
Trump’s U turn on foreign students
Has taken a U-turn in its stance regarding foreign students. Trump has said that foreign students should continue to be allowed to study in America, because they not only strengthen the country’s education system but also manage the financial condition of the universities.
He said that if the number of foreign students coming from China and other countries is reduced, then about half of America’s colleges will be closed.
Trump said that we cannot stop half the students coming from all over the world, if we do so then our college-university system will suffer huge losses. I don’t want that. I believe that it is good for students to come from outside countries, I want to maintain better relations with the world.

Interviews of foreign students were banned 6 months ago
America had earlier banned new visa interviews for foreign students in May this year. Its purpose was to stop anti-Semitism and leftist ideas in the country’s universities.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had issued orders to US embassies around the world asking them not to schedule new interviews for student visas, because the Trump government is going to make the scrutiny of social media profiles of students coming to America more strict.
He had further said – With immediate effect, the Consular Section will not allow new appointments for student or exchange visitor (F, M and J) visas until further guidelines are issued.
The ban applies to the F, M and J visa categories, which cover most international students and exchange visitors. Interviews later resumed, but social media checks and security rules have been tightened.
The number of Indian students going to America fell by 70%
The number of Indian students going to America to study has declined by 70%. This situation has arisen due to blockage of visa slots and sudden increase in visa rejections due to the Trump administration’s policies related to international students.
Due to problems, many students are now looking for options to study in other countries.
