5-year-old Liam was arrested as part of a crackdown against immigrants in Minnesota, USA.
On Tuesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained a 5-year-old boy, Liam Conejo Ramos, along with his father in Columbia Heights, Minnesota state of the US. Both have been sent to the Immigration Detention Center in Texas.
Liam’s school superintendent Jenna Stanwick said, ‘Agents removed the child from the moving vehicle. Then they asked him to knock the door of the house to find out whether anyone was inside or not. Jenna described it as using a 5 year old child.
The father forbade the mother from opening the door due to fear of arrest. However, after some time, the parents opened the door with the intention of bringing their child inside the house, when the agents present outside arrested the father. They refused to hand over the child to other people present in the house and took him along with them.
US Vice President JD Vance spoke about the incident while meeting with Minneapolis leaders. He said, ‘The child has only been detained, not arrested.’ Vance said agents could not have left the child out in the cold and that it was necessary to arrest the illegal alien.

Liam is the fourth student in his school district to be detained by ICE. The family came to the United States from Ecuador in 2024, according to school officials and the family’s attorney. Asylum case is going on against him, but there was no order for him to leave the country.
