In a major success, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a gang smuggling drugs and weapons from across the border. During this operation, 3 smugglers including a woman were arrested and a large quantity of narcotics and weapons were seized.

Giving this information, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the police have recovered 8.275 kg heroin, 6 kg opium, 13.1 kg chemical (a substance used in the production of drugs), 4 pistols and 17 live cartridges from the possession of the accused. This seizure is not only an important step in curbing drug trafficking but also a blow to the arms cartels associated with it.

Register the case and start action
Police have registered a case against the accused under the NDPS Act (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act). This case has been registered in Islamabad police station. The police are currently investigating this matter thoroughly, so that the entire conspiracy behind it can be revealed. The main focus of the investigation is to find out the previous connections, where the drugs and weapons came from and who are the people operating them. Further connections were made to find out where the consignment was to be sent and which were the international smuggling networks involved.

Senior officials of Amritsar Police Commissionerate described the operation as a major success against drug and arms smuggling. He said that this action will not only hurt the drug trade in Punjab but will also weaken the cross-border network.
