Adani Group company Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has got relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Gujarat High Court, which ordered Adani Port to return 108 hectares of land.
This land is located near Mundra Port in Kutch district. Along with this, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Gujarat government on this matter and sought a reply.
This land was allotted to Adani Ports in 2005
This land was allotted to Adani Ports in 2005. In 2010, when Adani Port started fencing the land, the local villagers filed a PIL against the company.
After this, the Gujarat High Court had ordered the return of 108 hectares of land. The state government had also agreed to take back the land. This land has been declared as cattle-grazing category i.e. suitable for grazing of cattle.
Adani Group has paid ₹ 37.39 lakh
According to media reports, 231 acres of land was allotted to Adani Ports for the Mundra Port Special Economic Zone Project in 2005 during the tenure of the BJP government in Gujarat.
For this, Adani Group had paid more than ₹37.39 lakh with a 30% premium of ₹11.21 lakh.
Adani Ports is the country’s largest port operator
Adani Ports is India’s largest private port operator and end-to-end logistics provider. Its 13 ports and terminals represent about 24% of the country’s port capacity. Its capacity is 580 MMTPA. Earlier it was named Gujarat Adani Port Limited (GAPL).
The company has set a target of keeping the cargo volume between 460 to 480 metric tons in the financial year 2025. This is 23% more than the previous financial year. For the financial year 2024, the company had set a target of 390 metric tons. In the last financial year, 180 million metric tons (MMT) of cargo was transported from the company’s Mundra port. The company has also increased its target to 180 MMT for the current financial year.
