Project completed in 6 years, delivery before time

CEO Ashish Rajvanshi said that it took about 6 years to complete this project from bid submission to delivery. The company has handed over the first consignment 11 months ahead of schedule. Earlier, the time taken to deliver the entire order was fixed for more than 7 years, but the company will complete it within the next 3 years.

Order for 40,000 machine guns

According to the company, the total order for LMG is around 40,000 units. Defense Ministry official A. Ambarasu lauded the ahead-of-time delivery, saying it proved the capability to complete the project expeditiously.

Emphasis on partnership between government and private sector

Ambarasu said the government is working closely with defense industry partners. He described “speed” and “scale” as two important pillars of defense procurement. He also said that to make the country self-reliant, the government and private companies will have to work together.

Plant Capacity and Technology

This center built in Gwalior is spread over about 100 acres and its annual production is about 1 lakh weapons. More than 90% of the materials used in it are produced in the country itself. There is also an underground firing range, where officers practiced marksmanship.

According to the company, this center has the capacity to manufacture approximately 30 crore small caliber ammunition every year. There is also a plan to increase the capacity to produce large and medium caliber ammunition.

Strict checking of every weapon

The company said that every weapon has to go through several tests before being inducted into the army. This includes ballistic tests, environmental testing and other technical evaluations to ensure that the weapons are completely reliable and trustworthy.

CQB weapons will also be made in the future

Under future plans, this center is ready to make Close Quarter Battle (CQB) weapons. This will further increase the capacity to manufacture small arms in the country. The company aims to start production of around 1,000 LMGs every month from April 2026. The entire order will be completed in less than 3 years.

Cheap and reliable weapons from ‘Make in India’

The company says that these weapons have been manufactured under ‘Make in India’, due to which they will be available at lower prices than the global market and will prove to be reliable for the army and paramilitary forces.

The plant is equipped with modern technology

The plant has modern facilities like barrel manufacturing, bolt carrier and receiver manufacturing along with CNC machining, robotics, surface treatment, precision metrology laboratory and 25 meter firing range.
