Mamta Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress Party has accused the film ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ of distorting history.
The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of West Bengal has accused the producers of the film ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ of tampering with history. The party says that the film presents the wrong image of Bengal freedom fighters.
According to the PTI report, on Wednesday, the party held a press conference that the name of revolutionary Khudiram Bose in the film has been described as ‘Khudiram Singh’. At the same time, Barindra Kumar Ghosh has been described as ‘Birendra Kumar’ and that too from Amritsar.

Khudiram Bose was a freedom fighter. He was hanged at a very young age. At the same time, Barindra Kumar Ghosh was a revolutionary and journalist.
TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Arup Chakraborty said that it is not just a mistake, but a conspiracy to eradicate the role in Bengal’s freedom struggle.

Kunal Ghosh is a member of the Trinamool Congress and former Rajya Sabha MP.
FIR recorded on seven producers of the film Let us know that an FIR has been lodged against the seven producers of the film in several sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) at Bidhannagar South Police Station.

The TMC also alleged that this is not the first time the central government has tried to weaken Bengal’s legacy. TMC also says that the role of revolutionary Hemchandra Kanungo in the film has been changed to a fictional character named ‘Kripal Singh’. Kanungo had trained to make bombs.
The party has also questioned the role of the censor board. The leaders asked that when so many historical changes were made in the film, how did the board pass it?

Actor Ritwik Chakraborty spoke of lack of research in the film Bengali actor Ritwik Chakraborty also questioned the film. He said, “It is a lack of research or weak screenplay, it is difficult to say, but it is so clear that the role of Bengali revolutionaries has been tried to make it weak.”

Ritwik Chakraborty is a Bengali actor, he made his debut in 2007 with the ‘Crazy Lover’.
The film ‘Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh’ is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. The film is based on Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat’s book ‘The Case That Shuk The Empire’. In the film, Akshay Kumar, R.K. Madhavan and Ananya Pandey were in the lead roles. The film was released on 18 April 2025.
