- Jammu Kashmir Suspected Pakistani Drones Seen Along LoC Samba, Rajouri Poonch

The video of several counter firing on drains in Nowshera sector is viral on social media.
About 5 drones were seen near the border with Pakistan and Line of Control (LoC) in Samba, Rajouri and Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening.
According to the report of news agency PTI, soldiers guarding Nowshera sector in Rajouri saw the drone over Gania-Kalsian village at around 6.35 pm. After this firing was done with medium and light machine guns.
Another drone was seen at 6.35 pm in Khabar village of Teriath in Rajouri. This drone came from Dharamsal village of Kalakot and moved further towards Bharakh.
At the same time, at around 7.15 pm, a drone-like object was seen hovering over Chak Babral village in Ramgarh sector of Samba for a few minutes. In Poonch also, another drone like thing was seen moving from Tain towards Topa in Mankot sector at 6.25 pm.
After suspicious drone movement was seen in the forward areas, security forces have started search operations in the areas.
Earlier on January 9, a consignment of weapons was found in Palura village of Ghagwal near IB in Samba, which was dropped by a drone from Pakistan. It included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds and a grenade.

Security agencies are on alert regarding Republic Day in the country. Security agencies suspect that these drones are being used to know the army’s position on the border or to drop weapons and narcotics for terrorists.
What is Operation Sindoor, which continues even today?
Army attacked drones 8 months after Operation Sindoor. Operation Sindoor was an Indian military operation conducted on 7 May 2025, in which surgical strikes/air strikes were conducted on terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK). It was named Operation Sindoor.
This campaign was launched in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack of 22 April 2025. 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Within about 25 minutes, 9 hideouts of Jaish and Lashkar like Bahawalpur, Muridke in Pakistan were struck and destroyed.
Recently, during an event in Pune, CDS Anil Chauhan has said that Operation Sindoor is not over yet, but it has been stopped. If Pakistan carries out terrorist attacks or infiltration, Operation Sindoor will be activated again.
