Rampal, head of Satlok Ashram, has got a big relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Rampal, who is serving life imprisonment in a treason case, has got bail. In this case, Rampal is in jail for 11 years, 4 months and 20 days. He is lodged in Hisar Central Jail. Sant Rampal was arrested on 19 November 2014 from Satlok Ashram in Barwala, Hisar district. The High Court had ordered him to appear in a case of contempt of court, but he did not appear. When the police arrived to arrest him, a clash broke out with his supporters. Five women and a one and a half year old child were killed in this clash. In this case, a case of treason was registered against Rampal. Know the case in which Rampal got bail… Youth died in Karontha Ashram in 2006. On July 12, 2006, a young man was killed in a clash between Rampal’s supporters and Arya Samajists in Karontha Ashram, Rohtak. This case was to be heard in Rohtak Court on 14 July 2014, which was to be held through video conferencing from Hisar Court. That day, Rampal’s supporters were accused of creating disturbance in the Hisar court premises. Apart from vandalism there, lawyers were also beaten up. In 2014, when arrest warrant was issued, Rohtak Bar Association went on strike and filed a contempt of court petition against Rampal in the High Court. Rampal did not appear twice in that case, due to which his non-bailable warrants were issued on 10 November 2014 and 17 November 2014. When no arrest was made even on 17th November, the High Court gave the police time till 20th November. Clash with police at Satlok Ashram On November 18, when police started arresting Rampal from Satlok Ashram in Barwala, thousands of supporters formed a cordon inside and outside the ashram and stopped the police from entering, leading to a tense situation for several days. There were clashes at many places, due to which the police had to use tear gas and force. After the death of 6 people, news of the death of 5 women and a child came out from inside the ashram, which made the matter more serious. Finally, on 19 November 2014, the police arrested Rampal from the ashram and he was sent to jail. In 2018, Hisar Court sentenced Rampal to life imprisonment in the case of deaths in the ashram. Hisar court had rejected the petition. Rampal had filed a bail petition in Hisar court, however, on 22 September 2025, the court rejected the petition. After this Rampal filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Hisar’s Advocate Kuldeep said that Rampal was facing a total of 14 cases, out of which he has been acquitted in 11. The High Court has suspended the life sentence in case numbers 429 and 430.
