Renowned comedian and actor Robo Shankar of Tamil film industry died on Thursday, 18 September. He was 46 years old. Shankar was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.
Media reports of institutions like Live Mint were written that they had kidney problems. On Wednesday, his health deteriorated and he was shifted to ICU. He breathed his last at around 8:30 pm on Thursday night. On September 17, Shankar also fainted on the set of Shankar.
The news of his death was mourned on social media.
After the news of his death, many people expressed grief on social media. Actor Kamal Haasan wrote on X,

Robo Shankar. Robo is just a surname. In my view you are human. You are my younger brother. Will you leave me like this? Your work is over, you have gone. My work is still incomplete. You went to us tomorrow. Therefore, tomorrow is ours.


Robot-style dance moves got the name ‘Robo’
Shankar was born in Madurai. He got the name ‘Robo’ due to his special robot-style dance moves. He started his career with small rolls in the 2000s. He was later recognized by star Vijay’s show ‘Kalakka Powathu Yaru’. His comedy timing and body language were well liked here.

People still remember Shankar’s comic role in Dhanush’s film ‘Mari’.
Shankar got a big opportunity in films ‘Idharkuthane’, ‘Asyipatai Balakumara’ and ‘Yai Moody Pesavam’. He then acted in films like ‘Valenu Vandhutta Vellaikaran’, ‘Mari’, ‘Vishwaasam’ and Cobra.
A few years ago, he had a long time jaundice. During this time his weight was also reduced. However, he returned to films after treatment.
Shankar’s family is survived by his wife and actress Priyanka Shankar. His daughter Indraja Shankar is also active on social media along with films.
