This director-actor duo last worked together in the film Khatta Meetha (2010). Like Akshay-Priyadarshan’s films like Hera Pheri, Bhagambhag or Garam Masala, Khatta Meetha is also one of the favorite comedy films of the public. Therefore, fans are very excited for Bhoot Bangla, which is ready for release on April 10.
Recently, there have been many reports that the makers of Bhoot Bangla are going to postpone the release date by a week. The reason is- stalwart 2’s box office tsunami. Dhurandhar 2, which has collected more than Rs 700 crore nett in just 10 days, is creating new earning records every day. But can Dhurandhar 2 really become a problem for Akshay’s Bhoot Bungalow?
Dates of half a dozen films changed, but Bhoot Bangla safe
Ever since Dhurandhar 2 announced the release date of March 19, almost half a dozen films have changed their release date due to this. Movies like KGF star Yash’s next film Toxic, multi-starrer comedy Dhamaal 4 from Bollywood, Dacoit, The Paradise and Peddi from Telugu industry have pushed their release dates – to avoid the storm of Dhurandhar 2.
Even the Hollywood film project Hail Mary, which was released worldwide on March 19, was released in India a week later on March 26. But the threat to these films was more serious, because they were scheduled directly before Dhurandhar 2 or just a week after it. Whereas every person who had seen Dhurandhar (2025) 4 months ago knew what kind of craze there is among the public for the second part.
However, Bhoot Bangla does not face any special threat from Dhurandhar 2, because there is a difference of more than 20 days between the releases of both. Dhurandhar 2 would have earned its biggest share in the first three weeks. Even after that this film will remain strong, but the craze will cool down a bit. By the time Bhoot Bangla arrives, most of the public will have seen Dhurandhar 2. The crowd that hangs out at the movies during the weekend will get a new big film from Bollywood after three weeks.
Bhoot Bangla is a crowd pleaser
Bhoot Bangla being a comedy will also attract the family crowd. The biggest advantage is that after the seriousness of Dhurandhar 2, it will bring a solid comedy. It will be good for the audience to have completely different flavors of both the films. In the past too, two completely different films have handled the box office clash very well. The clash of films like Gadar-Lagaan (2001), Gadar 2-OMG 2 (2023), Animal-Sam Bahadur (2023) proved to be a more successful moment than a clash. When a big film is in theatres, it creates an environment for other films as well.
For Bhoot Bungalow, the date of April 10 can be risky only in two cases. If Dhurandhar 2 continues like this, theaters will pay more attention to their earnings and will not easily agree to leave the screens for the new film. The second risk is if Bhoot Bangla fails to impress the initial audience. but if Akshay Kumar-If Priyadarshan’s Magic Bhoot is even a little successful in Bangla, the film will work.
