Commuters travelling between Moolchand and Ashram on Tuesday faced heavy traffic after a truck overturned near the start of the Lajpat Nagar Flyover on the Moolchand-to-Ashram carriageway.
The incident led to construction material, or rodi, spilling across the road, affecting traffic movement on Ring Road in both directions.
With half of the carriageway blocked, authorities have warned of long delays and urged motorists to avoid the stretch until the road is cleared.
TRAFFIC HIT ON KEY DELHI STRETCH
The overturned truck disrupted traffic flow on one of South Delhi’s busiest corridors. Due to the spill, vehicles moved slowly on both sides of Ring Road between Moolchand and Ashram, resulting in congestion during peak travel hours.
Traffic police said half of the carriageway remains blocked in both directions as recovery teams work to remove the vehicle and clear the debris from the road.
ALTERNATE ROUTES ANNOUNCED
To reduce congestion, commuters travelling from Moolchand towards Ashram have been advised to take Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and then Mathura Road before reaching Ashram.
Motorists heading from Ashram towards Moolchand can use Mathura Road and Outer Ring Road as an alternative route.

CLEARANCE WORK UNDERWAY
Authorities said recovery and clearance operations are in progress. Traffic police personnel have been deployed at the site to manage vehicle movement and assist commuters.
Travellers have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the affected stretch where possible and rely on navigation apps for the latest traffic updates.
Officials have also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and said efforts are being made to restore normal traffic movement at the earliest.
