Recently, on the issue of stray dog bites, the Supreme Court has ordered that dangerous dogs should be killed by giving injections. After this, a campaign to catch stray dogs has started in Punjab from 22nd May. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself has given this information through his official social media account. Now Raveena Tandon has appealed to them to choose other paths while keeping humanity in mind. Raveena has said that how the voiceless are treated tells what kind of human being we are. Raveena Tandon wrote from the official social media account on Saturday, “Honorable Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Ji, the recent decision of the Supreme Court regarding stray animals is being discussed across the country. Safety of people is very important, but it is expected that humanity and balance will also be kept in mind while implementing this decision. Measures like sterilization, vaccination, good shelter and proper rehabilitation can help in the safety of both people and animals. ” Raveena further wrote, “I am confident that with the cooperation of the administration, animal welfare organizations and experts, Punjab can become an example of handling this sensitive issue responsibly and humanely. How we treat voiceless animals ultimately tells how human we are as a society.” What is the whole matter? The cases of stray dog bites are increasing in the country, which is also affecting the government treasury. Many children, elderly people and passers-by fall prey to stray dogs. On this matter, in November 2025, the Supreme Court had ordered sterilization of stray dogs and sending them to shelter houses. Many NGOs filed petition against this decision of the Supreme Court. Now recently the Supreme Court gave another order and said that deadly dogs should be killed by giving injections. The Supreme Court has said that dangerous or rabies-infected stray dogs can be killed by injection, it is necessary to protect the lives of people and living with dignity also includes the right of dogs to live free from danger. With the final verdict on this matter given on May 19, the court rejected all the petitions filed against the order to remove stray dogs from public places. The court said that only the instructions given in November 2025 on rehabilitation and sterilization of stray dogs will be applicable. Those officers who do not follow these, a contempt case should be filed against them. Since then the decision of the Supreme Court is being strongly criticized. Many celebs including Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sonam Bajwa are giving statements against it.
