Why was polling held again in Falta, what allegations were made

BJP had accused the BJP of blocking the EVM at a booth in Falta by taping it.
After the voting on 29 April, tension had increased significantly in Falta area. That day, complaints were received from many booths that tape was pasted on the BJP symbol on the EVM. The then Observer Subrata Gupta himself visited the constituency and conducted the investigation. Evidence of tampering was found in at least 60 booths.
Apart from the alleged EVM manipulation, the investigation also revealed that attempts were also made to tamper with the footage in web cameras installed at several polling stations.

Jahangir remains TMC candidate on EVM, know the electoral twist in 3 questions and answers

1. Jahangir remained the TMC candidate, only he got votes
The deadline for nomination and withdrawal of names in Falta has ended. According to Election Commission sources, even though Jahangir Khan has announced the withdrawal of his name, it is not possible to officially withdraw his name from the election. In such a situation, he will still be called a TMC candidate.
2. TMC symbol and Jahangir’s name not removed from EVM
There will be no change in the name and symbol of the party and candidate in EVM. As per the rules, Jahangir Khan’s photo and his name remained on the EVM along with TMC’s election symbol. However, Jahangir Khan or any other TMC worker did not participate in the voting process. Jahangir Khan remained missing from home on the day of voting.
3. Can Jahangir claim victory if he gets more votes?
According to Supreme Court advocate Ashwini Dubey, the Election Commission will have to take final cognizance on this. If the Commission accepts the written application of Jahangir, then even if more votes are cast on TMC’s election symbol, it will not be valid.
If Jahangir has only verbally withdrawn his name and the Commission has also not taken cognizance of his candidature, then Jahangir can also claim victory if he gets more votes.
Mamta’s rule ends in Bengal after 15 years
