Parineeti Chopra has made her OTT debut with Netflix’s web series ‘Shak: Trust No One’. In a special conversation, he discussed his web debut, self-confidence, desire for a biopic and new decisions in life. Why did you decide to enter the world of OTT? Stepping into the digital medium after playing different characters on the big screen was not just a decision to change platforms. I wanted to be a part of such stories which keep the audience engaged and which, once started, they cannot stop. Something similar happened to me while reading the script of ‘Shaak: Trust No One’. That’s why I was associated with it. What difference do you find between cross-checking yourself and doubting yourself? For me both things are completely different. Re-examining your work or decisions can be positive but constantly doubting yourself can hold you back. It is very important to have faith in yourself in life. If you constantly feel from within that something is not right for you, then that signal should also be understood. For me, this is the difference between confidence and self-doubt. How has the way of selecting scripts changed in such a long career so far? I have never been one to plan much about my career. To a large extent, I work based on my conscience. When after reading a script I feel from within that I should do this, I give importance to that feeling. I have realized that when a decision was taken in the opposite direction, it always proved wrong. For me, career does not mean long-term planning of everything. Does she take any advice from her husband Raghav Chadha while choosing the script? It is important for me to keep personal and professional worlds separate. We both have our own professions and responsibilities. Just as they should not interfere in my work, in the same way I should not interfere in their work either. I decide my scripts myself. I think every person should have their own professional identity and decisions. Does the biopic genre still appeal? Biopics always interest me. It is not just acting but also a lot of research. You have to understand that person’s world, thinking and journey. In future, it would be nice to do a story about a sports person or a music personality. I am also attracted to the stories of such inspirational women who have made a big difference in the country. Why did you start with this series on OTT? This script had almost all the qualities of the kind of show I wanted to do. While reading this, I kept moving forward and did not feel like stopping. Then I felt that if it was made on screen in the same way as it felt in the script, it would be the kind of binge-worthy show I was looking for. The director, producers and the entire star cast were also fantastic. The experience of shooting it has been so good that now there is a desire to work more in web series format.
